Demonland, in conjunction with the Moderating Team, has decided not to allow discussions about the upcoming Melbourne Football Club board elections on this website.

Over time, we've observed that conversations surrounding board elections tend to become intensely polarized, often leading to disagreements that disrupt the harmony of our community. While we appreciate that many members have strong opinions about the governance of our beloved club, these debates can easily overshadow the primary purpose of Demonland: to share our passion for the footy and the Melbourne Demons.

Our volunteer moderators work part-time and are dedicated to keeping Demonland a welcoming and engaging space for everyone. However, due to limited time and resources, we are unable to effectively monitor and moderate the intense discussions that board election topics can generate.

In the interest of maintaining a positive atmosphere, any posts or threads about the elections will be removed. We thank you all for your cooperation and understanding in supporting this decision.

Let’s keep our focus where it belongs—on the footy. Here’s hoping the Demons can climb back up the ladder in 2025 and contend for the top once more. Go Dees!

You may be aware that the elections for four vacancies on the Melbourne Football Club Board are now open and we urge all members to acquaint themselves with the candidates and their policies and exercise your right to vote by Sunday 15 December 2024. There are some very highly qualified candidates - please choose wisely.

I personally would have liked to open this site for more debate on the candidates but the rules present further electioneering and our experience on previous occasions has been that opening the site for discussion places too much pressure on our capacity to moderate discussion and fact check the volume of postings to ensure fairness to the candidates.

Please view the following and good luck to all candidates -

Very pleased with this result.  Stability now returned.

Or you could say Stability continued. Thank goodness.

Members have stood up and made a very resounding statement on who they will vote for and more importantly who they won't. Hopefully one extremely destabilising candidate will finally get the members message after several attempts and finally leave the Club alone. They seem to have inspired the biggest voting turnout in club history and it wasn't for them.

Interesting that 584 people who voted didn't vote for Steven Smith. As Abraham Lincoln once said "You can't please all of the people all of the time." Wonder which candidates they thought were better. I guess it's pretty obvious.  I guess another Abe Lincoln quote might apply to their candidate. “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.”  Although in his case it doesn't look like he fooled many of the people any time.

Under 9,000 of a possible 40,000 people voted. More than last year but still only 22% which I find surprising.

Time will be the judge of that but the appointment of the right CEO is paramount.

I didn’t vote. Pert gone, Roffey gone, Smith a shoe in, disastrous board challenge averted.

Why would I vote?

For any election; I wouldn’t read too much into the numbers - what they reveal is never so clear.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
