2024 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Once again the club’s top goal scorer but he had a few uncharacteristic flat spots during the season and the club will be looking for much better from him in 2025.

just engaged!

he might be undersized, but he's our #1 forward

2024 was one of his poorer seasons since becoming our key forward circa 2020, and he STILL kicked over 40 goals in a side that finished 14th

he looked like he was carrying an injury this year; we need him to bounce back in 2025 and get up that 55-65 goals per year

Never has been quite right since he injured his foot.

Hoping for a bigger 2025.

My highlight was the bump on Sciliy; sat him on his backside....

Still our most important forward. Managing 41 goals in a season as a medium forward when he wasn't 100% fit, alongside our poor forward entries is an impressive feat.

I loved watching him tear Hawthorn apart in the final quarter earlier this year. I think he kicked 3.1 and took a ripper over Sicily in the space of six minutes. The dribbler to seal the win against Geelong was another obvious highlight.

His first half of the season was vintage Fritta.

He looked disinterested in some of those late season games at the MCG. He only had 57% playing time against Collingwood in the last game (was he injured?) and looked lost as a high half forward chasing kicks up the ground.

Not sure if it was down to form, or whether he became less of a focal point with the JVR/Petty/Turner structure, but he plays his best footy as the number 1 or 2 key target. Take a look at his game against Hawthorn when a lot of the forward entries went through him.

Another of a long list of players that are capable of better overall seasons, which is a positive.

I am really looking forward to seeing how our new forward line coach can change up our forward 50, we have the talent but lack the technique to adequately block for each other, false leads, making space, physically hurting our opponents, getting the ball in over the defensive screen quicker will see a fit and healthy Bailey Fritsch back to his best. Troy Chaplin I want a forward 50 Circa 2018.

At his best, a matchwinner. Was just happy to go this year. Pretty disappointing. He knows he is our best forward, and safe irrespective of effort which was clearly lacking those last 5 weeks or so.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
