Thankfully the Tigers left it way too late

they look unstoppable when they’re on

Feels like the season just started and there’s 2 games left?

Cmon AFL get your [censored] together

6 goal lead. Tigers kicked 3 to get within 13 points but Dees held on.

Great win over a top 4 team.

Kate Hore. Can she play AFL next year.  She is an ABSOLUTE STAR 👏👏👏💙❤️💙❤️

Will there be a replay shown anywhere?

Good win, but disappointing we gave up those last few goals

Yep, but it was a good side doing it, as you'd expect of them, not a poor side letting it happen.

But our girls managed to stop them - dead - on 95% of available occasions.

How good is it to actually hear the theme song at the end of the game?

Very!

'Twas all a nice tonic today after my last two trips here!

Gee I wonder how uncomfortable that mask is that liv is wearing

She says it just pinches the nose a bit; otherwise she forgets she's got it on until an oppo player tries a Batmobile sledge!

We could win the next two and still miss out - what a shame and what a condemnation of such a lop sided shambles of a fixture.

It's messy isn't it. Was sort of a 'friend', though, it seems, over those compressed last 3?

back on so can't have been much

I think Zanker hurt her wrist/hand (maybe fingers) in a pack marking fall. She got up shaking her hand and in a big of discomfort. I don't think it was mentioned by the commentators.

Great game from the girls.

Gee I wish they could find cameramen or a producer that can actually see where the ball is and not show players standing by themselves while the action is off screen.

6 - Bannan - 4 goals,  a direct assist and 3 other score involvements.

5 - Hore  - another class in captaincy

4 - Hanks - so often in the right place at the right time

3 - Heath - limited Conti's influence and got her own ball

2 - Purcell - tough as teak and makes a huge difference to our midfield

1 - Gall - has had a great few weeks. Really strong today, especially her first half

I hope I can vote after watching the replay. I'm afraid I go to our goals, at fence level, every quarter, so can't do the backs or even the mids justice in my 'live' perceptions.

That being said, it's getting to be some forward line!

Particularly good on a number of fronts, Biff, so I reckon worth slightly more than just a 'Thanks' emoji in this case 👍 🙂

Super effort today. Both teams threw everything at each other in a high intensity game. Great game to watch, our girls showed so much tenacity in their attack on the players and ball.  We are developing some great young talent as well, just great to see.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
