I think it would be part of a comprehensive review...

... as much as we need Adrian Anderson to represent the next MFC player to appeal a suspension...

... as much as we need the Angry Batmobile to lead the team through the banner at the G each home game...

Get my drift?

I'm not getting your drift, because you're sending mixed messages........
All organisations benefit from external reviews.

And the Angry Batmobile would be AMAZING at every home game.

Have big Maxy lead the team out in it

Id just like club to communicate what the actual problems are and what we are going to do to fix them .

Roffey, gawn ,trac some of the wider football media and some with close links to club have all publicly said there are problems but no one has said specifically what they are.

Yes on field performance is obvious but I think there is more to it. We've all heard rumours but if like the club to communicate what they think these issues are

So, you're happy the way things are at the club?

You're happy that one of the best players we've ever had at the club, has expressed a desire to leave, because of the poor culture of the club?

You're happy that we are continually displayed in the press as having a poor culture and this frightens potential recruits coming to the club?

You don't think that by bringing this to the fore will help clear up these matters and make us a more respected club?

No of course you don't, because you are happy with the status quo, watching us go through the same [censored] year after year, at the start of every season. I'd rather get this out of the way so we wouldn't have to start every season on the back foot.

Actually he is not, is it twaddle because you don't agree with his opinion, everybody can have an opinion on here, it won't impact anything.

The players and staff have been told not to read Demonland, apart from the posters the only other readers are journalists and pundits, or click baiters to give them their proper title now.

I find it hilarious that everybody is calling for a review, reviews happen at the end of every season, both from a footy viewpoint and administrative.

And unlike on here, everybody is listened to.

I find it hilarious that you are satisfied with the club doing a review of itself and actually thinking that is working.

How does Gary Pert sleep at night knowing you don't trust him.

And again what are the issues the board need to review?

Do we review the supporters who didn't turn up on a Saturday night and embarrassed the club?

There are probably quite a few posters on here that don't trust Pert.

Any employee of a football club that isn't trusted by a lot of the club's supporters should have trouble sleeping.

There are nearly as many improbable assumptions here as you would find in a Tom Morris exclusive!

So, a few equals a lot of, how do you know what your are stating is correct, I acknowledge there are a handful on this forum, but they have been kicking the club and anything associated with it for as long as I can remember.

Again also you have not stated what they need to review, you are similar to others on here and basing the call on rumour, hearsay etc.

I agree there is always one or two employees at any organisation that may have a personal axe to grind and will happily leak anything that the think will undermine the person(s) they have the issue with. This is now I think the leaks are emanating and assume the club is trying to find out who they are.

Culture is an overused word, what exactly is culture, please explain.

If you're referring to me as the newly arrived, do-gooder football supporter then you've gone off the rails. I've been a supporter all my life and attended the 1960 and 1964 Grand Final wins. Yourself?

Also, who said the football club had the best culture for 40 years? Pert? He would say that, wouldn't he.

You're what's known as the club "apologist", step back, be prepared to have an objective view.

There's no point talking to you, you are a mouthpiece for those that occupy the space, at the moment.

When they are gone you will just switch your allegiance to the replacements, it probably makes you feel important to know a few of the committee and the football staff and the players.

You were always a "name dropper" when you did your training reports and I guess this makes you feel important, whatever floats your boat.

I don't need anything to make me feel important, Liverpudlian, self esteem has never been a problem, I just got on with the players and officials mainly because I treated them as human beings and never trashed them either verbally or on here.

Any time I have had the opportunity to ask questions of anybody at the Club, I have, again I don't feel the need to hide behind a nickname on a forum and bag,  I also questioned any answer if I didn't like it. I just don't advertise.

At present we have had a couple of issues that have been all over the media, both of which now seem to have gone away and to quote the old English adage, today's news, tomorrow's chip paper.

Stringer and the fall out from the weekends coming finals will soon take over.

The membership is still reasonable, sponsors are tied up on multi years deals, we are clearing space on the list, the home training base is being looked into, only other issues I can see are Lawrence (as so called supporter of the club) and the other which we can't talk about.

I don't feel there is a need to apologise for anything at the moment, because I take no notice of the media or the pundits, there raison d'etre is click bait or listeners/viewers, they don't care how they do it or who it impacts.

I do note that Cornes has jumped ship, I wonder if the culture at 9 is the reason.

Interesting point..

Also, it's interesting that he's going to 7 who have had cultural issues play out in the media of recent.

So maybe culture is not so important.

Let's call a spade a spade, you are a groupie and love the fact that you can talk to the players and probably some of the committee and and staff, it obviously makes you feel good and somewhat important.

There were many like you, well that's an exaggeration, who denied there was any problem at the club, well we know that is just B/S. We have issues, how severe, we don't know. Even you would secretly recognise that, or maybe you are so enthralled with your apparent closeness with the club, you know that you can't see the forrest for the trees.

Me, I love the club and hate to see it implode so often, especially when they are so close to sustained success. My view is that we need to nip this in the bud and if there are any problems, let's get to the bottom of it and eradicate them.

Why should we be frightened to do this, if it's cost then I'm sure that there are plenty of supporters that would chip in for the cost, I would and I know a few more that would as well.

Easily done.  The club knows how many times the card/phone was scanned for each membership.  Just refuse to renew their membership if too low.  They may well have other interests or family duties preventing attendance but are renewing out of loyalty.  So win-win if MFC knock them back.

Dante, I thought Saty made some good points and you got personal, then had a second go at him. I think you should be better than that. At the moment I think you owe him an apology.

My take on a review is to know the results you want before you do the review, which of course plays to the incumbents. But I think it is important to do a review for appearances sake. If we go poorly next year at least those in charge can say they did a review. We did a review, we came up with answers, we made changes, we move on.

If Kate is strong enough to hold on then good luck to her. I'd rather she fight than wake up one morning and say, I've had enough. Good people are hard to find.

That’s the good thing about a public forum we are all entitled to our opinion. I thought I was kind to Saty, my original post was a lot harsher than the one I posted, I don’t believe it would have passed muster with the mods. So no, there will be no apology, in fact I believe what I said was pretty accurate.

What I and others are looking for is an unbiased, external review one that the club has no control over. I’m sick to death of the club getting away with, no I won’t say it, it might get me banned and that would do me no good. I don’t post on here unless the issue is important, so I’ll keep my powder dry.

Change is afoot.

Wouldn't surprise me if the external review is a condition of steven smith joining the board. Adopt the recommendations and put a broom through the place. start again afresh.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
