Last training session for (the men’s) season 2024. I’m sure gonna miss chats with the boys ☹️ But before we know it the band will be back together when training recommences in early December and nuffies like me will come outta hibernation and it all starts over again.

Today’s mission: a huge thank you to Staffy, a loveable man-mountain who’ll be sorely missed. 😢

Surely they let you join in for a quick lap or have some snaps at goal.

Nah, they know I’ll show them up.

On the way to training a lovely young (ie under 50) lady asked me for directions.  Went away with a spring in my step.

Full turnout of the list except for Sparrow. (I think).  McAdam?

A group of indigenous men were watching on and got the meet and greet from AMW and Kozzie.  Matty Whelan took them under his wing.

Viney was wearing nos 10.

Tracc and Clarry joined the huddle at the start, where some presentations were made, then did some minor rehab on the boundary.

BBB had no strapping on the knees.

Roo is a competitve beast and stuck out his elbow when Viney walked past.

Luker has the build of an AFL footballer.  Did a drill where he ran into goal, with Choco calling the type of kick (left, right dribble etc) and nailed them.

Stafford led many of the drills.

As usual lots of the players families were in attendance, including ANB, with a very young baby.

Maysie and Kolt were kicking for goal from the boundary.  Lets just say Maysie knows how to kick.

Mission accomplished: told Staffy huge thanks for everything and he smiled that disarming smile of his. Told him I’d give him a hug except I don’t have the proper footwear for scaling a mountain so he bent down and the hug was very sad.

Today many of the partners and kids of the players were there. Chatted with Georgie, Nibs’ partner, that was also sad. Talked to Ruby, Tmac’s partner, that was vey cheerful since pregnancy really suits her and coz Leo was dressed up for Book Week as a surgeon complete with green scrubs, a stethoscope and the cap and even those disposable little slippers they wear. Hashtag painfully cute.

The kids were all kicking a ball around on the boundary and of course I got hit in the head but it was okay coz it was Melk’s son Teddy who’d kicked it. 😂

JV7 was JV10 for today coz he couldn’t find a clean #7 jumper. We talked about Staffy and Jack was pretty emotional, as was his partner Charlotte. ☹️

Big hugs for Claz. He told me he missed me on Monday (even though it was him who was a no-show 😅) said he’s feeling well now and as always he was happy and smiling and laughing and a more effective tonic you’d be pushing to find. We said our usual goodbye… me: Loveya Claz. Him: I love you too. Bless his affection little heart.

Had chats and laughs with a group of boys from Santa Teresa in Alice who are here for four days and are attending the match tomorrow. Not a single Dees supporter among them. Worse still, Essendon and Collingwood supporters! I let ‘em know exactly how we feel about their teams. If they should decide to forgo the match and instead hide in their hotel rooms it’s got nothing to do with me. 😁

But the biggest and bestest thing was what Kozzie’s partner Ardu told me, after I was done gushing about Bellanie aka cutest lil baby I’ve ever seen in my entire life… and I’ve had three of my own! Anyways, she told me her sister lives near her and is her best friend and there’s no way they’d move away from Melbourne. This was having just told me Bellanie’s not sleeping well atm therefore Ardu is tired throughout the day, and me asking her if she has enough support in Melbourne.
So, terribly *sorry Cornes et al, you can stop fantasising about our Kozzie because he’s exactly that… OUR kozzie. End of story

* so NOT sorry by any stretch, delusional [censored]-ers

@WalkingCivilWar can you try and get a photo of Jack in #10 if Training hasn't already finished.

Sorry Andy it was the shortest session ever. I didn’t take a single pic or vid. Too busy being sad, then happy, then sad again, and so on and so forth.

WCW I dont know what I am going to do now that training is over for this season.

Your wit, spontaneity, unassuming nature and of course classic journalistic reporting of our boys training and more importantly the vagaries of Kolts coiffure has kept me sane throughout the year . Your passion for the team knows no bounds, rain or shine you are there for us.

See you in October!!❤️💙

After 16 years of loyalty and dedication a volunteer named Marty finished up today. Max and the boys presented him with a framed jumper signed by the players.

Don’t even mention Kolt’s hair. It’s a bone of contention between us. I told him I don’t like the string (it’s not even a headband) and he said, “you don’t like any of my hairstyles… maybe you tell me how I should wear it?” And buggered if I knew what to say. 😅

Thanks @WalkingCivilWar for this and all of your training reports. It's great getting some glimpses into the people in the inner sanctum. Must be mixed emotions this time of year with inevitable departures & retirements, etc. How did May look today?

Thank you @WalkingCivilWar as always. Your training reports are one of the few truly fun and positive reads on Demonland.

And a special thank you from me to you for all the love you've shown Clarry!

It’s not hard, Jaded. In fact, it would be harder to NOT show him love. He’s super affectionate and really thrives on it. At one point today he called out to little George Gawn to come give him a cuddle. As is a 3yo’s wont George ignored him and walked away. Clarrie turned to me and said, “He obviously doesn’t like me.” He wasn’t joking. I’m no psychologist but what I see is someone craving love and affection. Anyways at the risk of sounding too woke to some on here, I’ll leave it at that.

A huge thanks to WCW, Fritta and Turner and all posters for the in-depth training reports and the wider interpersonal relationships that you have with players, families and footy department. Once the final game is done and dusted it is going to be a long two months. Take care all. ❤️💙

Glad you used the word ‘People’. They’re all regular human beings with feelings just like us.

Maysie looked great! Not hampered in any way at all. And he’s stoked to be playing tomorrow night. He came straight over to the boys from Santa Teresa and the reception was heartwarming. He was in an awesome mood.

The W comp starts on the 30th of August (our first match is on the 31st at Mordor) so there’s still a couple of months of banners and training and matches, albeit on a smaller scale.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. Lack of preparation after a problematic preseason prevented Oliver from reaching the high standards set before last year’s hamstring woes. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
