If Kolt can fix up his kicking, he’ll become our best young player very quickly. Runs to the right spots, has pace and loves the contest.

Still be Windsor for me. No knock on Kolt, just really impressed with Windsor.

Goal umpire called it a point, so without the arc it would still have been a point.

My question is how did he call it touched when clearly the hand was nowhere near the ball and there would be no sound - guess ?

Poor umpiring imo

The 6 or 8 games we've got into Kolt this year will be a bonus for next year

I agree it’s been good for his development and having that experience will make him work even harder over the summer

I saw a bit more leg speed from Kolt in this game which is encouraging - he has to work on his tank and if he can get very very fit maybe he’s our ANB replacement

Kolt has shown enough and once he picks up the pace of the game, the sky's the limit

He's only just turned 19, as has Windsor.  We sometimes don't take into account how young these draftees are (suddenly playing against men who are vastly more experienced, bigger and stronger)

For both players, the next 2 years are also development years as very few become the finished product after just a year or 2 in the system

Turner - played very well

He has come a long way ... been in the system for at least 4 years and is now starting to blossom as a 22yo

Another tick for our development system and patience

Half the battle for these youngsters is believing that they can belong at the highest level.  The base skills are there

What is absolutely crucial is having a number of experienced, talented players to show them the way

I had a look at North, Tigers & Eagles today and I don't envy their position and where they sit.  It must be so hard for their new young players to shine

Disco still has a fair way to go but there is indeed, cause for optimism

Kolt (and Windsor) have had only one preseason.  Imagine what they may be able to achieve after two, or three.

Even better as he has just ticked over 3 years (mid season draft 21);

Yeah, he was obviously passed over in the draft but it could be argued that he has been in the system since 2019 (when he was not drafted)

Do you know what where he was playing his footy in 2020 & 2021? (assuming he was playing under 18 footy in 2019)

Albury hey!

Reminds me of Hadyn Bunton who played in 4 senior flags for 3 different Albury teams before he had turned 19yo!

Tholstrup's game was excellent. I understand Joeboy's view that he can get the blinkers sometimes but that will come once he adapts to the speed.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
