For clarity for the 2025 draft we have our 2nd rounder and we swapped our 3rd rounder with the Lions for Sharp.

Our second rounder with the discount should nail Toby Sinnema.

Not sure whether the Lions 3rd rounder will be enough for kalani. Wait and see.

I note Toby Sinnema played well on the week end as did Prasad.

Agreed. Sinnema is a talented youngster and one to grab in our 2025 draft. It’s a highly compromised draft pool this year with academy and father son picks.

Good video to introducd the top prospects heading into the season.

Curtin played in super round last week and bagged 8 vs Subiaco, to big , strong and agile for his opponent.

Toby Sinnema is also Vice- Captain of the Stingrays this year

what is the current thinking of his value?

is he still playing primarily as an outside player or, given its his senior year, is he starting to develop an inside / out game?

He’s an outside player with good disposal and some tricks, a bit of X factor about him. Fits a need and a type that suits the modern game. Has played senior footy for Devon Meadows in the Mornington Peninsula Football League which is a good competition. Been recognised this year for his leadership which is another bonus.

FROM ROOKIE ME PRE SEASON ON Toby Sinnema

“He was lucky enough to spend two weeks at Melbourne through the NGA program there at the start of preseason, so he’s come back nice and strong. Breaks lines, kicks the ball well, really powerful with his running and his ability to get involved in chains.”

Sinnema will be very handy to add to our shifting list profile.

I always thought he was very much like Lindsay when I saw them both play last year. Good skills and runs.

A young man by the name of White might be of interest.

AFL Draft: The future stars representing Australia U18 team against VFL sides

12 players are already under academy programs , out of 28 youngsters. This year will be another big lift for the northern teams Swans, Suns, Lions & Giants. They need to be gifted some of the very best elite youngsters… don’t they? Ffs.

well, it's important for the equalisation of the competition, promotion of northern franchises, and protection of the broadcast rights' value

The 2025 Young Guns Series will be played over the next fortnight, with the two-match talent showcase set to again feature a host of Victoria and Tasmania’s top prospects eligible for the AFL Mid-S...

Dees have no mid year draft pick at this stage so little focus on this game. But I’d like to see young Yze developing and see him still as a potential rookie chance at the end of the year.

There’s another Lindsay who plays half-back and has a lethal left foot on the horizon but he’s no relation to Xavier.

Josh Lindsay is from the Geelong Falcons and was named best player for the AFL Academy against Coburg VFL yesterday at Whitten Oval. He collected 25 disposals at 80 per cent efficiency across half-back, providing run and drive for his side. Lindsay won the team best on ground medal ahead of South Australian on-baller Dyson Sharp who was also an outstanding performer.

Dees will have to look to value picks in this years draft. We’ll use picks for Sinnema and hopefully Kalani White. Whilst we will look at how to get that gun tall forward or energetic goalkicking small forward, I’m still wanting to get players with skills and kicking efficiency.

Whilst perhaps not in the top 50 listings at this stage, I watched Oakleigh Chargers and Aaron Sharkie looks a good player who can run and run and kick with efficiency. One to pencil down and see if he gets a place in the Vic Metro team.

Scouting Notes: AFL Academy vs. Coburg VFL

The AFL Academy notched a 13-point win over Coburg VFL in their second and final exhibition match, played at Whitten Oval on Sunday.

Prospective father/son Kalani While took part in the AFL Academy team ~

#39 Kalani White | Key Forward/Defender
Suns Academy/Queensland (Melbourne F/S)

Stats: 7 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles

Swapping positions with Curtin at half time, White was arguably more impressive in the defensive half where he was able to win more of the ball and demonstrate his clean ball use by hand and foot. White has a knack for being in the right spot, but currently lacks of little polish to hold all the marks he’s in the area for, almost getting mark of the year early on as the Academy exited defensive 50. To make up for this, White took a one-handed chest mark whilst jumping on his opponents head in the defensive goalsquare in the third quarter.

Riddle me this demonlanders,

I know some people argue about picking on best talent vs best option.

If we're looking option wise, what type of player do we target with our first pick?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
