I love this thread. 175 Pages of endless variety: Goody is hopeless, he's got to go, he's got to go, Goody is hopeless, Goody is hopeless, he's got to go.....

It's so positive and uplifting! Real true supporters!

I hate this thread

Properly managed club this wouldn't run I sense deep frustration at all levels

And nothing from management who are looking the other way waiting for someone to arrive or do something

This thread shouldnt exist

Reality is it does because of what we have become again and all the fan boys chatter won't fix it

I support the club, not the coach.

Like players, if the coach isnt performing then get rid of them. Goodwin hasnt been performing and is lucky some nonces approved a clause for a full pay out otherwise he would be worried about his job, if not already gone.

This is two years of wasted talent. Its a brutal place in sports, either perform or lose your job and he is performing as well as his wedding outfit... Shizen.

Right?!!! I swear to god I’d 86 Demonland in a [censored] heartbeat, I really would, if not for a group of genuinely awesome people on here. The negativity is one thing and I can handle that to a degree but the relentless repetition is suffocating and it’s clearly getting worse.

Unfortunately there’s nothing the admins can do about it (trust me, I’ve asked) since overwhelming and repetitious pessimism and just being a [censored] in general isn’t a breach of DL rules.

Ahhhh right let's control alternative thoughts and only allow one supportive opinion

I will vote for that

If the club was properly managed this thread would not exist nor need to

That attitude set us back years during the tanking saga. We should always be aiming to win, everything else is secondary.

Did I say this? Please show me exactly where I said this.

And believe me, even in 2021 there was a significant amount of depressing pessimism, there always will be. The difference being it wasn’t the same thing over and over and over again.

Good old Ghosty. Endless love & praise for Goody, Roffey & Perty.

Everything is great, nothing to see here as the Team slowly sinks to the bottom & becomes a laughing stock.

Reminds me of the Fitzroy die-hards in their last season.

So should we move to Tassie, it worked for Fitzroy?

Reality check.

This forum is for all supporters to discuss Melbourne. The good the bad.

I'm fully aware you see things in way different to me, and others. There are those more akin to your ways. All in all that's a good thing. Promotes healthy debate and amicable banter.

It would prefer we were in more successful times. I really do. Much nicer to wax lyrical about success than it is to discuss our shortcomings.

You derisively vomit as to the idea of not liking losing. Are we supposed to like it ...and just say nothing ? Seriously I'm interested.

Many here, and indeed out in the real world are fed up with losing, the mediocrity and lame duck oversight and management.

Ghosty... it's very easy to not be disappointed by such talk.

Don't read it.

Me ...I get disappointed by reading about soccer balls. But I still enjoy yours and other's reports.

There is a nasty personal edge to some of the attacks on Goodwin that I do not like.

Some people are quick to forget that he is our only premiership coach in six decades.

And since 2021 we have lost at least four key players who have not been adequately replaced ---- Jackson, Hibberd, ANB and Ben Brown ---- while for various reasons others such as Oliver, Petracca and Salem have declined from stardom to mediocrity.

Also, May and Lever no longer form the formidable barrier they once did, with the last two years clearly showing the effects of advancing age.

All in all, the list has clearly deteriorated, despite hope that the likes of JVR, Windsor, Lindsay and Langford have plenty of future upside.

But with all that said, it may be time for Goodwin and the club to sort out an amicable parting of the ways if possible.

All coaching stints eventually come to a natural end through factors such as burnout, lack of flexibility as game plans change, and the need for fresh ideas.

So yes, there is a case for saying Goodwin has lost the plot this season and it's time to go.

But whenever he does leave, he will go with my thanks and respect for some wonderful memories in 2021.

I think there is a big chance we have seen our last win for 2025. We simply cannot kick a winning score. It stands out what will happen between now and Mid 2026. We will lose most games for the rest of this season. We will go into next season with with a lame duck coach and FD who are being retained because we cannot afford to pay them out. More of this year's results will continue in 2026 why will they change? From April the questions will start like they have about Voss at Carlton. After a heavy loss in the KB game. The club will announce that Goodwin has been sacked. And another year will go down as failure.

Don't have Sat lotto #s there Old..

Your crystal ball gazing is likely spot on.

Bad enough we endure the current but knowing it's going to perpetuate... just b.s.

No CEO and new Pres to be appointed. $1m payout to Goody for sacking him a year before contract expires. He is going no where until 2026 - then questions really kick in. Poor start next year and big trouble!

New CEO has already backed Goody for 2026.

Great so based on this seasons form or lack there of next season is going to be another wasted yr. What joy 🤮.

A miracle is needed for next season if he is still coach.

Larkey is set to miss, surely we roll the Roos? If we don’t the players are sending a clear message, although regardless of the outcome I think the message has already been sent.

Why BA they beat us by 9 goals a few weeks back what has changed? We are still kicking terribly. With the exception of milkshake we have no forwards of any ability. Petracca looks like he wants to be anywhere but in a red and blue jumper and Clarrie is a shadow of earlier this decade.

Yeah, I should’ve known better than to try to appeal to certain posters, especially at this point in time. Not ashamed to say my youngest son is struggling with long-term mental health issues and it’s currently at a very challenging level to say the least.

Sadly though, it just occurred to me that this is the probably the very reason I reared up against the relentless and repetitious negativity right now: because Demonland was one of my escapes from the harsh reality of my home life right now and I guess I need it now more than usual.

GW out. For now anyways.

So where does the blame stop? For better or worse at the coaches door. He has been at the MFC for a decade. The playing list and FD are all his chosen group. It ain't working so who else,s fault is it?

Well, after all we support the MFC. Not Simon Goodwin.

Capable being the key term. I can just as easily see us here in 5 years time entering another rebuild.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
