A few changes at year end.

obviously BBB retires,

Hunter cannot have his contract extended,

Schache will be delisted

AND Tim Lamb and the footy department to explain why McAdam was given a 3-year contract !!! FFS

A thorough  review of the footy & recruiting dept is needed on the drafting of these experienced players who have brought virtually zero a team who WERE in a premiership window vs what’s walked Jordan, Harmes, Grundy, would love to hear them explain the strategy around this??

Fullarton good around the ground but in 50/50 ruck contests getting mauled by Lachie Smith.

He’s not a genuine ruck so don’t think he has to be elite in this area, just adequate to have a spot in the afl side. He’s had 18 hit outs to 25 so not getting completely destroyed.

Having Jack Macrae and Ryler Sanders in a VFL midfield is ridiculous.

If Bevo ain’t playing Saunders he should allow transfer to us. Too good to be playing seconds. Lachie and Jack should get together for a round of golf or Smash Palace Derby. Reminisce about old times.

If that was 15 metres umpire you’re vertically challenged.

Ben Brown could be in a wheelchair next quarter and it would improve his mobility

Hard to watch. The Casey based players are a long way of VFL standard which makes it really difficult for the AFL based Casey players. MacRae and Saunders are class midfielders who are sick of racking up kicks. Our mids are not in this class.

Laurie, Pup Brown and a Casey defender have all not been able to hit a target 15meters away and turned it over. Pups kicking would need to improve immensley in both accuracy and depth. There is no doubting his endeavour and ferocity but we need players who can finish of their work.

Another one to the Dogs - 12.8.80 to 5.5.35.

KC I’m keen to get your thoughts on the Casey player acquisition and development.

It seems we don’t have many high quality VFL players in the side other than Mitch White. What’s the reason for this?

Long story but two of their experienced VFL recruits Connolly and Hustwaite are long term injured.

Smithy’s commentator keeps repeating ‘slipper’ ad nauseam Give the man a pair.

Hunter will have to beg Goody to have any chance of playing his 200th game. It certainly won’t be on form.

Haven't seem him at VFL level aside from ANZAC eve, but I'd imagine he's checked out and looking to call it a day.

Tomlinson would also be struggling for motivation these days. Can see him on another list next year.

Jefferson gets his second and it’s three in a row against the wind.

hows he been playing?

Casey having purple patch against the breeze could threaten in the last?

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
