Becoming increasingly likely that it’s one of Langford or FOS that ends up with us at our first pick.

By all reports FOS is the one out of all of them with the lowest floor but the highest ceiling. The same type of player as these two - could be Col Sylvia and have all the tools but never quite kick on…or could be Dangerfield.

Not as foolproof as Smith or Draper who have much higher floors but if you back our development team in then there’s a hell of a lot to work with and he could end up being the best of the lot of them.

Yep.

North will take Tauru at 4 if the HS are correct.

We'll have a choice of Langford or O'Sullivan it seems.

1 Lalor

2 Smith

3 Draper

4 Tauru

5 Langford or O'Sullivan

Personally, I'd take O'Sullivan if it plays out this way, but I know Dazzle and others aren't as keen.

But who knows.  Maybe North surprises and overlooks Tauru at 4.

Actually a nice place to sit. Watch other teams scramble and we can just rank our players and see who falls our way.

Will be very interested what happens with our 2nd pick

Couple of great highlight clips below. Both look excellent options to me.

At 5 best available whether mid or tall.

At 9 there are some talls, mids and running HB/mids likely available.

So some needs come into play at 9. Considerations might be will/can Rivers, Kolt, pup, McVee turn into very good mids?.

Will we move Petty and or Turner back if need be?

How likely are we to get a tall EG Kalani White next 2025 draft?

We will throw the kitchen sink at Kalani. Get him and we likely get 1st dibs on his twin brothers.

Why would the crows need to do that?

Jagga smith would probably be available at pick 4 anyway wouldn’t he?

Any trade up with North make the possibility of North taking Tauru basically set in stone; if North were planning on taking a mid @ 2, they wouldn't trade it - they'd chose the pick of the bunch for themselves.

A trade a few spots down for North make the "reach" for Tauru more palatable.

They've been linked to Tauru by just about every source so it's just joining the dots.

I don't want Tauru at 5, so in my eyes this is an absolute win. We take the left over mid at 5 then cross everything and hope Armstrong goes between 5 and 9 so we can be saved from ourselves.

I'm JT I trust (as long as he doesn't pick who I don't like)

If Armstrong was a swingman capable of playing defence too, or a genuine 200cm ruck/fwd the pick would make a lot more sense

Wonder if there's a world where we take a Whitlock or Shannahan instead if they offer more flexibility

If FOS is on the board at our pick I'm ALL IN!

He's my favourite player in this draft I think he's the most special player in it. An all rounder with some x factor.

I think he's such a great mixture of inside/outside, great marking, creativity, vision, footwork and evasive skills. He has so many tools and the athleticism we need in this current team and upside to lead the club down the line.

I had conceded he was going to go top three and beyond our reach. Maybe I shouldn't get too carried away with today's rumors...

There is a world where we trade out 9 for a mid teen and a later pic and go maybe a Hynes and maybe a Whitlock

I am certainly open minded when it comes to 9

1. Lalor (Rich)

2. Smith (Adel)

3. Ashcroft (Bris)

4. Draper (Carl)

5. Tauru (NM)

6. Langford/FOS (Melb)

Terrible news. Don't see it with FOS at all. Special sidestep and like his ability in congestion, totally abysmal looking kick

I always wanted Langford for us. His height is a POD for our midfield and also his marking will be valuable. Potentially able to swap roles with Trac during the game seamlessly.

Think Langford fits better with goodies contest defence way of thinking so expect we take him, FOS would by accounts be a point of difference in the mid something we lack, don’t think either will be a bad choice. Our next pick is more interesting would we go with next best like a Smilie if they were still available or go with a need like kpp

The original offer of P4 + 2 x 3rd rounders for Pick 2 got knocked back, according to the age (or herald sun, can't remember which)

A highly regarded news source….FB🤦🏼‍♂️

I follow a lot of AFL pages, can’t remember which one it was.

Ok, was able to find it, it simply read “North Melbourne is understood to have knocked back the Crows offer of pick 4 and 2 future 3rd selections for pick 2”.

Chris Cavanagh & Matt Turner

(I took a screenshot but file was apparently to big to upload)

For anyone interested, here is a Full Mock Draft for 2024 done by "PommyinOz" and a few other blokes.

Looks like they had a bit of fun doing this actually!

Here is the link to it:

The guy representing the Demons chose Alix Tauru at pick #5 and Harry Armstrong at pick #9.

Not sure why he chose both talls?

But everyone is going to have their own unique opinions on who the Demons might choose in the Draft.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
