Do we want Freo or Port to win? I think either case we go out of the top 4?

I’m going for Freo because I can’t stand seeing Hinkley’s resting smug face go to next level smug after a win.

Witts reminds me a little of a young Preuss

Kayo is killing me tonight.   So laggy.

Unwatchable.  Been forced to watch the poo & wee game.

Sam Collins having a big game

I know Ginnivan presented himself as a w-anchor when he started, but boy he is a natural footballer. His decision making and goal sense are brilliant.

Port v Fremantle has become a borefest.

Most games involving either Port or Freo generally are.

That was 50. I don’t understand the 50 anymore. A player goes near an imagined space and it’s 50, but a player tries to hurt someone who’s trying to mark the ball and it’s not.

The AFL has that wrong.

I see (or hear) Port have a drum in their cheer squad. We’ve discussed the possibility of applying to the AFL for permission to have a drum. Seems it wasn’t a popular idea.

Nek minnit…

😅

The Club requested it. We weren’t aware of it until we arrived at the ‘G on Thursday. It’s a shame it was debuted at such a dismal match though.

I don’t understand this. Are they saying the scoreline 79-80 has happened 14 times, making it the scoreline that has the highest rate of occurence? If so, that’s incredible because any one-point difference result is rarer than a wider margin result, right? Or do I have absolutely nfi what I’m talking about. 😃

Butters has to go for that hit. Minimum 1 week like Kozzy. Let’s if the media carry on for a full week about it. This will be a test of whether the AFL has favourites or not.

Umpire didn’t even play a free kick. Was incredibly dangerous.

Completely different intent but ended up as a dangerous bump that was lucky not to send him into next month.

Butters was charging in to collect the ball but got him on the chin. Umpire had to have been blindsided because that is as clear a free as you'll see. Should be a week as well, and lucky not to have really collected him and been out for a month.

Look away if you don't wanna watch Mr Smug

Freo can’t win. Their strategy is about not losing, but when it comes down to it they get rolled. 2 weeks in a row.

Just watch him get off though.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
