Again your BIL must not of heard properly or heard what she said. Collingwood supporters are loud all the time, she wanted our supporters to be loud all the time because it helps lift the spirit of the team. She said there is a lot of Die Hard supporters still out there and wants everyone to get along to games to support the team.

 

I was there and strongly disagree with anyone that says there was frowns and groans about this, in fact there was a bit of hoo rah as soon as she said the end part ( about coming along and supporting the team) She also congratulated every supporters loyalty for growing YoY.

 

She also literally prefaced what she was saying about being like Collingwood and not to take her out of context.

Others who were there who dispute this either weren’t listening properly or are letting their disdain for Kate misinterpret her comments.

That covers people who WERE there. As for everyone else… they heard diddly. They’re taking what was written weeks after the event by someone who also wasn’t there as the truth.

As I said WCW, I like Kate, and I was absolutely listening properly. I was on a table right in front of the lectern, the same one as her.

When chatting to her afterwards she admitted she’d chosen her words badly and wished she’d had her time again.

It’s OK to show a modicum of objectivity. You don’t need to blindly defend every single little thing the club does. 

There are those on here who won’t hear a good word spoken about the club and there are those who won’t hear a bad word spoken about the club. Both groups are pathetic, and as bad as each other. Debate each topic on its merits for gods sake. See grey rather than only black and white!

As a Liverpool supporter I understand crowd noise and the “power of Anfield”. I genuinely love the Melbourne Football Club it is my number one sporting passion. I will be incredibly honest though, I don’t particularly enjoy our brand of football. I find it dull and predictable and struggle to get excited by it. I want to but I can’t. I get more enjoyment watching the brand of our AFLW team. Would love to see more attacking flair, overlap run. I want to see some positive intent with ball in hand. Will continue to be a member and turn up to games. Obviously happy when we win games but there is a difference between being happy with a win and excited by a win. Would love to feel the latter more.

Luckily for you I copied the relevant quotes from the article so you can inform yourself and stop attacking people who are commenting on the MFC's presidents quotes in the article.

Regardless of who said what when, and also apologies if this has been noted, but I can't imagine the extra 10, 20, 30,000 'members' we're trying to attract will contain many game-attending noise makers. Those types are going to come from that captured and invested early-re-joining 40,000 passionates.

And, I'd prefer attention being directed at making game attendance attractive, in ways suggested by some good posts here.
