I think this is the most glaring example of the club/coach/captain’s stubbornness I’ve ever seen.

Grundy rendered Gawn almost useless from the very first bounce and we had absolutely nothing up our sleeve to rectify it.

I do. When the guy keeps running across the line to wrestle you and block your jump, jump early with knees up and it won't happen again. I was screaming that at the TV all game, but no one heard me.

My TV also doesn’t respond.

“Get Spargo off” I was shouting

but I didn’t get any response 🤣🤣🤣

Practice your skills. Agreed !!

5 1/2 months to work in execution of skills.

Still no movement or forward line craft aside from Fritsch.

Midfield bombs into forward 50.

At least it’s only round zero 🤣🤣

Grundy was in front of him well before he could legally jump, smart coaching from the Swans

If Grundy can run around into Max's area, Max can jump.

Even if he went early and gave away a free, it wouldn't happen again.

I was waiting for Max to counter by meeting Grundy half way. But a lot of the time he allowed it to happen. Surely you’re allowed to bump a player that’s trying to block your run at a centre bounce?

I dunno, has to be incentive for the rucks going for the ball over just blocking, especially at the centre bounce.

Yes indeed - I've just had a look at his stats. I wonder if my skewed view of his game was influenced by some good work he did in front of me. I was seated in the forward pocket. Plus the fact I've had a man-crush on him since he arrived at the club.

I've always thought he is one of our elite players.

He has dramatically dropped in form since last year.

Viney - the umpires friend

Not that I’m complaining but there might be a bit of through to that.

In round 24 last year Gulden played a near perfect 40 possession 2 goal game and yet Viney got the 3 votes.

I reckon Viney will poll extremely well in the Brownlow this year provided we tick the wins over.

…could’ve run around into Grundy’s area. A bit Marx Brothers, but would have been better.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

  • CASEY: Collingwood

It was freezing cold at Mission Whitten Stadium where only the brave came out in the rain to watch a game that turned out to be as miserable as the weather.
The Casey Demons secured their third consecutive victory, earning the four premiership points and credit for defeating a highly regarded Collingwood side, but achieved little else. Apart perhaps from setting the scene for Monday’s big game at the MCG and the Ice Challenge that precedes it.
Neither team showcased significant skill in the bleak and greasy conditions, at a location that was far from either’s home territory. Even the field umpires forgot where they were and experienced a challenging evening, but no further comment is necessary.
