Grabbed his chances as a small early in the season with his energy and accuracy in front of goal and rewarded the club for its perseverance.

I’m a fan of Chin. First half of the year he displayed his value with a very good level of defensive play and kicking goals. He was always busy in and around the play. He seemed to tire with a full season at AFL level. Hopefully with more AFL experience he will run out a full season.

As mentioned, Kade had a great first half in ‘23, hopefully another preseason and having a couple more fit players in the forward 50 he can stay in the game for longer in 2024, really like what Chandler brings to the team.

Big fan of the Chin. His goal kicking accuracy is pretty good, hard at the ball, and has a good leap and very strong over head marker for his size, this is a really underrated skill of his. Could make a formidible partnership with likes of Kozzy, McAdam in '24.

At his best he is a real weapon, endurance running and deadly accuracy. But as with all "high half forwards" an extended drop of form can make them a liability.

I expect Chin and Spargo to be competing with McAdam, Billings and even Tholstrup for those spots this year. I think the competition will be healthy.

All of the above, plus… he’s a really sweet kid. Proof again that the ‘No DH policy’ is still well and truly in force.

Showed some good attributes in the first half of ‘23, but then faded.  A work in progress who still needs to ‘nail down’ a spot in our best 22.

I would actually prefer him to Kozzie in 2023 (sic).  And I am not just saying that to be controversial.  Doesn't jump unless he is likely to grab the ball and is more involved.

Showed some good signs early in the season, then reverted to the same inconsistency that he showed in previous seasons. Another who is going to need to lift in a big way to play senior football in 2024 given our recruiting.

Thsts a quote no one is likely to agree with. I like you are frustrated with Zkosdie trying to be MOTY champion but coaches must forbid him wasting his time jumping far too outrageously.

Chin had a good season just tapering off at the end. Was a good goal sneak and crumbed who will join all the previously mentioned players vieing for a spot I mentioned in the Bailey Laurie post.

Love his whole hearted attack on ball and opponents.

Future in his own hands.

Kade will be under pressure to keep his place with Billings and McAdam wanting a place in the 22/23.

His early season form needs to be great because once Pickett has served his suspension there will be less places for players like Kade.

The new recruits Caleb and Koltyn will also be looking to get into the team as well as Taj, Blake and Bailey.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
