Featured Replies

I just heard on SEN that Byron Pickett has been suspended for 1 week for failing to turn up to Sunday's game. He was an emergency.

It also said he drank alcohol on Saturday night!

Mmm running out of patience with Choppy!!!

Also on the one week he will spend another four weeks at Sandy before being considered for selection!

hmm..

many snippets of one picture starting to appear.

the thick plottens !!

if he was an emergency for sunday, he shouldnt have been drinking saturday night. no excuses...

Hmm. Didnt know he was an emergency. Still, deserves the suspension if he was drinking and didnt show up.

Wow. it's all happening for us this season

Very disappointing, especially from a highly-paid senior player who should know better.

Glad to see the club taking immidate action. Given the current climate, you have to be seriously stupid to break any sort of team-rule.

Perhaps he can run himself right into match fitness and get hungry!!

if he is quitting as per another thread, I will spew.

Norm smith at Port, premiership hardman at North but now giving up? don't understand why he comes to Melbourne with a half #ssed attitude.

He won't be playing for at least 5 weeks - such a great player wasting a great talent.

Its a real shame as he is so exciting to watch.

sort of does lend cred to that "other" thread..

As with many I certainly hope he sees a way forward from this. Still ...with his contract up this year ( correct if wrong!! ) and unlikely to front in red/blue for at least 5 weeks.. Doesnt bode well :-((

As i thougth...he wasnt 100% on the pitch..

Byron ...hope ya work it out there !!

this is a disgrace!!

so disappointed in byron this year... returning from holidays overweight and out of condition, his appearances and play in the red and blue this year have been very ordinary and then this....

as the statements says, he now has to consider his future....

well, this should be the start of pre season for next year for byron..... prove us how good you still are and not a bloke looking for free cash!!

i'll tell you what. a 5 week suspension from the dees is a pretty serious penalty...maybe he didnt just have one drink...

Goodbye Byron.

Thanks for the brief memories.

I think its fair to say that his heart wasn't in it for his third club.

Spot on.

He should be gone by year end.

you could almost be forgiven for thinking that this is 'all over red rover' and what we are now seeing is the public 'going through the motions '. This is football after all..lol.. with all it's "football speak!!"

not really harsh. Not turning up to a senior game as an emergency is almost unforgivable.

Does anyone bleed for this jumper anymore??????

in all honestly i would have to say little do, i would put into that bracket mclean, neitz, robo. They have visibly shown it to me personally. i awould almost slot johnstone in there. I know it might sound strange but he has been offered a fair bit of coin to leave but stayed and he also has shown genuine frustration at our losses. Dont mistake his sometimes inability to run. As i said at the start of the season he would start slow due to his broken toe and n ow we are seeing a fully fit trav!!

Time to go byron and promote hughes(who i think has grown up a demons fan which mite help our cause a little!!!!)

pure speculation..( and remonstrate if you wish ) but i sense that what we are seeing is not the real matter in hand...just its public guise.

Byron hasnt been there 100 % all year. whatever ills are troubling the bloke this trangression of rules this past weekend is not the 'entirity' of the matter I would suggest. Whatever the whatever is it would seem to have been around for a while. The punishment almost says that. Its as thought its very measured and conspired to allow a graceful out...from both parties. yes...could be reading far too much into this...or not !!

as with all things ...time will tell... You just get that itch that this isnt over.

byron had family issues preseason, and i dont think his head has been all about football so far this year

this might wake him up, and spur him on to help the demons make the finals!

Byron is a fool

Funny how he's stuck on 198 games.

They might do a Dean Rioli and (LITERALLY) carry him over the line for the last 2 games of the year.

Would be disapointing if he couldn't make 200 considering how close he is.

you make your bed... you lay in it.

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
