laurie makes smart decisions but he doesn't get involved enough in the play

is he playing back today in the Bowey role?

Taking our opportunities in this quarter, JVR, AMW, Woewodin.

More players getting involved, Dunstan, Laurie, Freeman.

Backline still holding up when GWS are trying hard to get back in the game.

Casey 50 to  GWS 11

Laurie turnsover in the backline, leaving an entry and goal for GWS.

Follows up from the centre bounce, with getting the ball, linking to JJ, then JVR who marks in the goal square.

57 to 17

Sounds like Woe is really pushing for AFL debut. Has he been playing pure midfield today?

impressive half of footy; could be even further up

8.9.57 to 2.6.18

jj everywhere with 24 and 6 clearances, while woey 2.0 and dunstan have 14, and laurie just behind with 13, munro 12, and turner and howes 11 apiece

goals: woey 2.0 3, jvr, amw 2, jefferson 1

Much better quarter by Laurie

Jefferson went quiet but JVR came into it. A reversal of the first quarter. (Could be they are interchanging but not clear)

He has been on the wing, though pushing up into the half forward area.

A little quiet at times, has quality and composure.

I also think he has 3 goals up to half-time.

The young guy doing special comments is rather good

Lead. Bur agree - I've heard him do Casey a couple of times. Really like his work.

The woman doing special comments, whose name escapes me  but is an AFLW player, is good too.

It makes such a difference to hear decent commentators.

Woey has started the 2nd half on the ball.

Charlie Spargo is similar, but Charlie has the tank to go with it now and I wouldn't be surprised if he's back in the 22 over the next month.

no, still half forward moving up to the wing

The Spargo role by the sounds of it, although I'm not watching the game.

GWS came out strongly in the 3rd, we get a goal against the flow and from a backline effort, Schache goals. GWS has lost that domination, though still trying.

My apologies to the special comments lady. This half they seem to have adjusted the audio and the gender is obvious to my old ears.

Great commentary today

ON AFL website final teams there is no Spargo or Melksham. 2 emergencies still in Alice I hope milk is sub.

Melk wet weather specialist should be playing if it is kissing down with rain.

This mistake was made against the Powa in R10.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
