Tomo also out

Verall looks a player. Might have a good developing ruck for the first time in a long time. Good start with two quick goals (Jefferson, AMW).

Dominating the first 10 minutes. Plenty of forward entries.

Driving well off the backline, when GWS go forward. Howes great runs for the handball gets.

Munro is even taking umpires out (accidental collision).

The young guy doing special comments is rather good

Young girl? Flip her with Kelli Underwood! Young bloke from the midlands ? Also quite listenable.

 1st quarter, Casey 3.7. 25 to GWS 1.3. 9

JJ best on ground, lovely running patterns that make time and space. Howes and Turner managing the backline well. Verrall making his presence felt. JVR in and out of the game.

Quarter Time Casey Demons 3.7.25 lead UWS Giants 1.3.9

Goals Jefferson Moniz-Wakefield Woewodin

Disposals Jordon 13 Woewodin 9 Dunstan 8 Howes Munro 7

While Jordon had a lot of it other than his kick which was marked in a pack by Jefferson he hasn't been damaging.

Forward entries as the quarter went on just got worse.

Looking forward to some better system in the second quarter.

Schache took a great juggling mark that went unpaid

Very impressed with Verrall. Up against a seasoned ruck in Matt Flynn.

Verrall is only in his first year. Looks a prospect

His SA Coach said he was the equal best Ruck/Forward in the NAB comp last year.

Hopefully JT has done it again with a Rookie pick.

Yeah I'm not getting sucked in by Jordons number. Has butchered most of it that quarter.

Woewodin on thr other hand is very clean in tight and rarely fumbles.

JJ 13 possies 1st quarter.

Goal kicking just like Dees 3.7.

2 more possies quickly and a bullet pass to JVR for a major.

I can see why Turner has his admirers. If he can develop and learn from May

He could be his replacement. Strong hands

more of a lever type, i would've thought?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
