I thought I would let you know that I had to fly from London to Frankfurt and then back again for work and I was able to listen to the whole of the last podcast on the commute. There and back. Thanks for being my wingmen.

Are you concerned about the 2023 Bye Curse?

All teams this season coming off the Bye have lost the next week with the exception of the Saints who played the Swans who were also coming off the Bye.

I was going to post that i have to cut the questions off there because I have almost as many pages of notes as I did for last weeks show but how could I not include this one. Thanks for taking us with you on your commute.

I was glued to the Pod right to the end.  That has to be worth ️.  Thanks as always guys!

PS.  Maybe I was drowsy towards the end, because I’m sure I heard Binman select the Cats.  I was dreaming, wasn’t I?  😄😄

I actually was drowsy towards the end. Paying for the long one this morning.

Had no idea about the Demonland player of the year award process. Always just assumed for some reason that all our votes were totalled and the 6 to 1 was given based on the top 6 totals haha.

I just finished the podcast at normal speed @Demonland it was great content - I didn’t have a solid block of time where I could listen to it in one sitting, so i broke it up into a few sittings. It was excellent coverage of the other contenders and their runs home.

I like to use the squiggle ladder predictor every few weeks, just to gauge how some teams might rise or fall with the uneven “fixture”.

Yeah I'm a separate chunk listener, I'll give 1.5 speed a go but I do hate the effect it has on your ears when you go back to normal speed.

Try 1.25. It should save some time.

Thank you.

I too break up any longer form podcasts that I listen to into chunks whilst taking my daily walks or communtes to and from work.

Can you imagine the time you'd need to spend editing if you had to cut it down? Usually need to allow twice the length of the recording at very least!

I have no editing skills and I'm too invested to know what to cut out. Time is also a factor and as we do the show on the Monday or sometimes the Tuesday it would delay the release and by then it's already old news. Perhaps if we did the show over the weekend but even then the time that that would take out of my weekend would be a factor.

The Pies win and the Mid Season Review were always going to be longer. Hopefully we can return to 1 and 1/2 hours in the next few weeks.

I would keep it exactly as is. Sometimes when you edit a show like this down you lose a lot of the energy and natural conversation which is what I listen to it for. You can also start obsessing on what to edit and get picky on every little um and ah, it's a real rabbit hole. You also stream it live so it's good to hear it as it was if you miss it.

The show is like good talkback radio and there aren't any other MFC pods like it so I don't mind if the time is longer on some eps. There's plenty of short and punchy edited podcasts out there, this one has a real niche. The 3 of you also speak very well considering the show is done in one take.

I’m going to give this a try simply because you and Binman already talk quite quickly, so I might get a laugh from the sound of “Amphetamine Andy” and “Buzzing Binman”.

Lol. I've tried to slow down my "reading" of the match wrap up and the questions from listeners to account for this.

One of the podcasts I listen to is regularly  2 & 1/2 to 3 hours plus and I listen at 1.25 and sometimes 1.5 speed.

1.25 is listenable but if you have a fast talker 1.5 can be a bit hard. 2x speed is just crazy.

If you listen to our 2hr & 58m Mid-Season Review at 1.25x speed it will run for 2 hrs & 24 mins and save you 35 mins & 36secs.

If you listen at 1.5x speed it will run for 1 hr & 58 mins and save you 59 mins & 20 secs.

If you listen at 2x speed it will run for 1 hr & 29 mins and save you 1 hr & 29 mins. Obviously.

If you listen to our 2hr & 58m Mid-Season Review at HALF speed it will run for 5 hrs & 56 mins and will waste 3 hrs and 2 mins of your life listening to 3 stoners debating about whether loading is an actual thing or not.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
