Should never have tried again with an AFL club on the Gold Coast. People go there to play golf, eat seafood and die.

Glass half empty kind of person yeah? 🤣

Don’t you dare come up for the Olympics!….

There’s a tad more to do then the above mate, 8 months of the year it’s an amazing place to live, stay away during summer

He seemed to get a few 'Joe the Goose' type goals.

Have you seen any GC matches this year? His efforts have been deplorable, particularly for a guy so big and athletic.

Please explain.

What is a "joe the goose goal?"

Easy handball over the top to a player unguarded, usually on the goal line. Typically means other players have done the hard work but player in question gets the stat.

The correct answer is "sorry I got it wrong & Chol has been quite an effective forward for GC"

Not sure what I got wrong. Just said he kicked 44 goals which is a fact. Heard he hasn’t been as good this year which was widely reported and backed up by the fact he has only kicked 3 goals in 4 games so far.

Gold Coast marathon

golf

noosa + hinterland

mooloolaba

port Douglas

cycling

surfing

bundy distillery

bris is rad

and I haven’t even seen the best bits

Last 3 days in Brissy ...

Not long and somewhat rose coloured glasses as a visitor but it does have some upside such as...

> a whole lot less ppl so easier to get into places / parking

> as a result of above ... less pressure on prices.  Mostly reasonable including parking in the city

> many seem a bit happier, light hearted and with less traffic on the roads a few less angry folk it seems

> Brissy river's a winner but with so many high rises coming up.... get up quick if you want a view or be prepared to search hard for one that does.

Overall it has a feel of 'working to live' rather than the other way alot of the time in Melb.

Generally i like it up here.  Selective places in Noosa decent as well which i did late last year.

Cant say im a huge fan further up as just too hot and cant hit the beaches around Cairns & beyond unless you have a death wish.

With that lifestyle, they probably live forever

Olympics? Should of been disbanded years ago. Totally corrupt.  Hardly anyone bid for them.  Who is paying for it?  Qld?  The federal Gov will foot a large part of the bill which is disgraceful. That means Victoria will be paying for your infrastructure  as usual. Enjoy.

Has any major sporting code ever had a successful sojourn into the Gold Coast.
As far as I know (happy to be corrected) Rugby, soccer and basketball have also tried and failed.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
