Also thought about giving Hibberd votes, too.

Sorry but my votes are quite a bit different to most of you.

6 Brayshaw - the only Dee that was clean by hand and foot all night, even if he slipped into just going down the left-hand side like his teammates after half time.

5 Harmes - our only midfielder who took the game on, or at least was permitted to take it on, and significantly it was when he was on the ball it coincided with our best chances. As hard and tough as Viney and Oliver were, they weren't able to get any run or clearances going for much of the night.

4 Petty - did a commendable job mainly on Cameron, who has been their best forward this year.

3 Neal-Bullen - our only small forward to touch it more than six times and to lay more than a couple of tackles. 

2 Oliver - after a slow start had a super second term, but shouldn't have been allowed to come back on after his thumb injury.

1 Viney - another gutsy display but aside from his lovely pass to Fritter early, didn't really provide the link-up play.

Unlucky Trac - yes clearly was dangerous with his three goals, but not enough bullocking or tackling work done by him and part of our beaten midfield clearance group, even though he spent chunks of game down forward.

Special dishonorable mention to Max and the $1.5 million man who took 1 mark between them while their much less heralded counterpart ruck combination in Stanley and Blicvas managed 5.

Yet May's direct opponent Hawkins kick only one late goal and was largely ineffective. Yes May was very clumsy and his disposal was poor, but he nullified one of the best kpf in the competition

Thanks SA we missed the game last night so looking at the stats May must have had the worst 26 disposal game of his life and Rick must have had his best 13 disposal game he has played. If May held Tommahawk to 1 late goal he did his job better than a lot of his compatriots. I sense a bit of bias against Steven.!!

Adjudication;

No complaints really, Hawkins must have the 'invisibility mode' switched on when May was tackled 3rd quarter without ball just prior to to his sole goal.

Broadcast;

Ran silent here after half time probably reflected state of game rather than quality of commentary.

Opposition Hyperbole watch;

No BS got hammered around the packs.

I also thought about giving ANB votes. It seemed to me Geelong's strategy was to play our play makers close and not let them get any easy disposals. And within that strategy it seemed that most emphasis was placed on closing down Viney, ANB and perhaps Harmes more than any other players. They weren't allowed to run amok and hence got caught with the ball or had to dispose under pressure. It was well executed by Geelong and even under this pressure Viney, Harmes and ANB were our better players. However, without them doing their thing, others who rely on them couldn't get into the game (ie, Bedford, Spargo, Fritsch, etc).

Thanks SA I thought about that about an hour ago, little light went on in the brain, particularly if he took all 19 kick-ins. Maybe we need to go back to Salem doing the kick-ins. I remember last year that they utilised Langdon for the first target a lot. Ha ha.!!
