Bedford's out of the starting 22.

Dunstan can still yet replace Bedford as the designated sub.

Unless Bedford is injured (or he replaces an injured player in the 22), I reckon there is zero chance he won't be the medi sub.

It's not how goody operates.

Dunstan made the trip.  Sighted boarding bus. Possible medi-sub.

So did Melksham.

They take at least 2 emergencies on interstate trips. Might have even taken all 4 given Covid could throw us into disarray at the last minute.

Handy out I guess.

We need to focus on beating whomever they send out against us - celebrating outs is often counterproductive

I thought Hunt was very solid. Nullified Weightman and mopped up well, especially in the first half. Did his job.

The GC team is full of young blokes who are mobile. Skills fail them often, they run so much. Hunt is needed to catch them up forward to then rebound the ball for our opportunities. Bowey should handle Salem's role quite well and should be a great 'assist' in the close backline clearances. Hunt, Bowey and Smith - equally mobile and really good interceptors/defenders against this mob, I'd reckon. Dees by 50 points.

This is a bit harsh on Hunt.

He got involved, spoiling, picking up possessions, tackling, two way running. He did enough to retain his spot.

Fully agree Hunt went ok last week.

Get off Hunties back.

I suspect M Brown doesn't make the emergencies because of the Weid...who is primarily there as an emergency should one of Gawn or Jackson not be available on game day. But if a tall forward has to be replaced, I assume Weid has that covered, too.

I'm more interested in who comes in should we need to replace a defender before the game. After all, there has been some suggestion that Smith may have a hand injury. Would Bedford come in but someone else (Brayshaw? Harmes?) play in the backline with Bedford taking on their role?

Brayshaw will play back for sure and Bedford in.

Looking like it's going to be a wet evening in Carrara. Wouldn't be surprised if pull a late change and being Bedford back in for a tall.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
