How about...

Jackson and pick 44 to Freo for pick 13, Future 1st, and (North's) Future 2nd

Picks 13 and 27 to Geelong for pick 7 - Geelong use 13 for Bruhn

Grundy to Dees for Freo's (North's) future 2nd

Dees trade 7 and our future 2nd to GWS for 15 and 19

Dees end up with Grundy, 15, 19 and future 1st for Jackson, 27, 44 and a future 2nd

Geelong want local Jye Clark at 7.

Like it until we trade 7. Think we'd keep the top 10 pick.

Can't see how they get Bruhn then. Pick 18 won't cut it, and you wouldn't accept their future first given it could be the same pick.

Could Cadman slip through to 7 you reckon?

Not really keen on Cadman personally. I wonder whether we'd be interested in Rueben Ginbey (another WA kid, I know).

I wish there was some news out of Freo.

The silence seems like they are doing side deals but ignoring Jackson.

Meanwhile their potential pick swap partners are doing other deals, players traded and Freo is playing in its own little pond, by itself!!

Movement?

It's effectively:

Port give 8, F1st and player/pick, get JHF and Rioli

WC give 2 and Rioli, get 8 and Ports' F1

Nth give JHF, get 2 and player/pick

Freo might get caught out here

How on God's earth is JHF worth pick 2!!!

Then what is LJ worth...

Initial thought is it doesn't seem a great deal for WC?

Wonder how close pick 8 and future 1st would get them to Jacko? Or even if they'd be allowed to do that?

Once the eagles pick 2 is gone there goes the WA competition for LJ!!

Freo laughing!!

But hang on. I didn't say LJ was necessarily a generational talent. Dazzle said he wasn't better than any of the draft crop this year. Who. Have. Never. Played. A. Game. Of. AFL. Football.

Luke Jackson was instrumental in the greatest burst of AFL football perhaps ever witnessed.

I suppose it depends on where Port finish next year. If they drop further, it'd be 2 and rioli for 8 and maybe 6. Or it might end up 8 and 12. Hard to tell

Why? They can still offer 8, which is more than Freo have this year. And if they get an extra 2023 1st, they'll be able to trade it

Nah, would prefer hot, thanks.

JHF was pick 1 a year ago, of course he is worth pick 2

Technically Eagles must use a first round pick this year, unless AFL give them an exemption

I think the consensus has always been that, if they are bring Jackson in, the AFL would sign off on it.

Given Jackson's age the general media feedback has been they'd be allowed to trade it.

To paraphrase Luke 'Chopper' Beveridge, Freo better pony up if they want Jackson.

Pick 2 + Rioli gets them pick 8 & future first rounder.  IF they are genuine about their interest in Jackson, that would suggest to me that they’ve already offered pick 2 in a direct swap for Jackson and Dees have said that’s not what they want.

edit: this is assuming that they would be willing to give up Jacko for pick 8 and the future port 1st (which is around the Melbourne asking price).

Last I heard (this morning) they'd had 6 or 7 meetings with us. Apparently a deal was getting close before the port pick swap but idk how accurate that is.

Don't see this helping us. WC are going to want to keep a pick in the top 10 this year. Which only leaves their F1 and ports F1 on offer for us?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
