Agree with all this.

I'd actually had a sneaky suspicion that we were poised to beat Hawthorn.  I recall I'd posted on here for our first game that season (which we nearly won as well and would have attracted a good payout) that I'd considered putting a $50 bet on us to win, to which @Ethan Tremblay replied something to the effect that I'd have more fun burning the money 🤣.  I'm not really a betting person, so I didn't end up putting money on either game.

Harmesy was one of the ones I reacall that really stood up thay game that's still there.  Oliver tough and brilliant, as was Track and Jaden Hunt.  Another classic Max Gawn game, and if you listen to the highlights, was this the origins of the "That's it, I'm growing a beard this week!" call?  All capped off with a classic Max off the side of the boot miss after the siren, which didn't matter, because we had the game stiched up anyway (gee, I hope he learns to kick those when we need one to win an important game!!).

Was also the Weid's first game.  Gee it has been a long build for him, but I'm still hopefully he can step up 2020 style and cement his place as an AFL footballer if he has a soild/uninterrupted preseason over this summer.

If my memory serves me correctly, the big Peddo bear might also have kicked a few?

8.52 to go in 3rd qtr, Mitchell lays unnecessary tackle on Watts that puts him on his head. Watts remonstrates and Mitchell instantly throws a right cross.

Mitchell is a [censored]. Always has been, always will be.

Good luck Hawthorn.

Don't forget to remind him back! "Yes, yes ... our Norm Smith winning premiership star. When I think that he could have been playing for you guys ... thank you so much for letting us pick him.  I expect your customers who follow the Bulldogs also thank you for Bont?"

"Maxy how good is this guy?"

Spoiler alert: He's very good.

I absolutely love Roosy and honestly think there are a lot of people involved in our path to a premiership, but he is at the top of the list as he started it all. This interview is from a few weeks ago and is well worth a full listen, although the Melbourne part is quite short (from 33mins in and only 5 mins or so). The swans stuff is fascinating, especially how he benchmarked the swans list against Brisbane at the time. I believe he did the same for us using the Hawks as the benchmark.

As an individual player, Max has been an absolute gun and probably one of our few elite players for a period over that ~5years.

This season was absolutely the making of Maxy the elite captain that discovered how to bring all his team mates along for the ride, with the GF and his surrendering of the main ruck role to an on-fire Jacko being the pinicle of that journey.

I actually teared up watching that. I remember it so distinctly. And it now means that little bit more as a marker to where we are now.

Not to mention the names running around that are suddenly yesteryear… Pedo, Watts, Tyson, Kent, Garlett... they have all played a part.

Also I have to say, as a long standing critic of Derwayne, his over the top commentary style was perfectly suited to that game.

Thoughts?

No idea, thought he was one of my biggest fans although I am clearly mistaken. I must ask him if he has read all my books or just dislikes me. There are a lot of folks in the latter category, so probably will not waste my time.

On the other hand, I have to be honest with myself. I am getting a bit sensitive in my old age so perhaps I will ask him over to the other side for a drink to sort out our differences.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
