It was a loaded question if Viney was his favourite player. Goodwin was too smart to say otherwise.

The fact he was asked it by our captain shows Viney is up there with the best.

Yes, Goody rightfully shirked the question in the same manner a parent never says who their favourite child is. But Max, like any good sibling, knows exactly who the favourite is, and named him up and gave Goody the opportunity to sing Viney’s praises.

I don't think he shirked it, I thought Max showed that he already knew the answer and wanted to get it out of Goody which was a bit cheeky

Goody’s son Eddie sounds like a hoot.

“On the way home, after winning the game to go 7-0, Eddie says - we’re going to choke from here and miss the eight”

MFCSS runs strong in that one.

Thought the coaches were at the ground when they played guess I was wrong, they only watch tapes now, again this is a forum so people can have their opinion that's all it is.

I'm a little late to this part of the thread but based on your comments you would have been in the same camp that thought Ollie Wines was a limited prospect as a footballer. As you said, it is a forum, so you should except that others have an opinion. I will open myself up to that as well and  I expect there are a number who will lambast me for saying this.

There are people who have opinions and then there are people who have no idea about the intangibles that make great teams. The things that are spoken about as "culture", "selflessness" and "resolve' are not about skills and if you think our current Captain and Vice Captain do not epitomise what a TEAM needs to be successful, then frankly you have no clue.

I was just reading through the ABC's little expose on Bontempelli. One of the many reasons Jack would be loved, would be by where he sits in this particular graphic/chart.

*The Bont sits 5 on tackles and mid 22/23 on pressure acts.

Here is a link to the article to go over a few other graphs. Petracca is up there, as well as Clayton in a few of them. Also J Harmes.

Never once have I heard from anyone that Viney is a skilfull, damaging footballer who open a game up, dangerous midfielder who kicks clutch goals at important times, a player with good vision, 40 goals in nine years and all they say is loves tackling and is hard at it, wow after 9 years thats it.

On the B&F the coach did not give him the win, voting is done by the match committee that was in 2016, Clayton Oliver has won two in six seasons compared to 9 seasons for Viney I know which footballer I would pick first.

Just because a club tried to poach a player means squat we have gone after other players as well from other clubs.

Again I don't hate the man I just reckon he is a limited football just as others say things about Smith, Hibbo, Milkshake etc we all have our opinions, good on him if we snag the Premiership because he does love the club and does give it his all no doubt about it.

He's not Clayton Oliver so he's no good. OK.

Yes, you're totally entitled to your opinion.

Simon Goodwin has the completely the opposite opinion.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
