Bloody brave selection from Goody and Co picking so many kids in a final with the older boys fit and ready to play. Finals experience will be so important so the young boys.

Which is why Jones shouldn't get a look in.
Get the kids out there.
They are the bright future.

The kids will get the chance, over the next ten years to play finals, no need to rush them.

Give Jonesy a chance to be medical sub and put him on with ten minutes to go when we are well in front.

It’s all well and good to say that but the sub is there for a reason, if we have a player go down in the first quarter then Jones is playing a full game. Look what happened to Brisbane.

I’m not saying Jones wouldn’t be ready to go but it’s a gamble putting a club champ in as the medi-sub if he isn’t picked on form and fitness (he’s barely played a competitive match in the last 2 months). If he puts a strong week of training and get himself in line to be picked then that’s a different story.

We're not playing kids because they are the "bright future".

We're two wins away from a flag. We're playing them because they're in our best 22 right now.

Yeah, they've gone past him.
And he should have retired 3 forken years ago but thought I'd keep it respectful.

His average stats for the games he has played this season are around half or lower than his career averages for all indicators.

Context is v important here. TOG, where he played etc.

I keep thinking of his game against the Swans last year (and by no co-incidence, it was hist last game of the year) where he was off the pace and a liability.

Maybe he's still up to it, and maybe he isn't, but Jesus Christ, the Grand Final is not the place or time to find out.

I think even he would struggle to break into this side!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
