For sure the IQ is there, but what about most natural? I can't make up my mind, torn between Oliver and Kozzie, and would entertain arguments on another half dozen.

I think your spot on mentioning Kossie as the best natural contender. He seems to intuitively know ehat happens next and has helped him impact at such a young age.  As many experts say  - you can't teach that.

I'm off now to give my dog Daisy a friendly pat.

I’m going to go out of my way here to defend Angus Bradshaw.

His role for the last 6 weeks has been almost exclusively playing the defending wing, which means he has to be hyper aware of his defensive positioning - especially for the switch. You’ll also note the amount of times he’s caught in between players and has to run back and throw his hands up to defend a player coming in to mark. That’s him doing exactly what he needs to do for the team. It’s a very unsexy position, but listen to how often the commentary is around how well set up we are. Angus is a huge part of that.

I think he’s done his job amazingly well, and we should be very proud of him and his team first attitude.

Maxy's been getting criticism on here when he lead us like a legend; and you use this line on my comment about Gus, who was good at best! Misdirected.

Agree re: Max and admittedly could have made the same comment on any number of posts.

Gus isn't racking up big numbers and has had a few weeks where his disposal has been sub-standard, however, if we were counting acts of courage, he would be streets ahead of any player on the team - he consistently backs into packs or goes back with the flight. Those are team lifting acts.

Both Maxy and Gus can improve a little but ALSO both are performing at a high standard of team footy and are inspirational the way they both commit for the team.

I think Kozzie needs to relax a bit. Every time the ball comes he’s so anxious to get it and kick it immediately. I think he tries too hard. I like his enthusiasm but he needs to tone it down. You can’t do something spectacular every time you touch the ball

Its a fair comment. Luke is great in the ruck because he is suberb at ground level.

But then we are lacking a key forward a lot of the time. Max doesnt always go frwd and when he does he often misses goals.

Luke up forward isnt really impacting the scorboard either.

Not sure of a solution but since we are having our best season for  a long, long time Im not too concerned .

Sure he (Jackson) is not kicking goals, which would be great, but he is setting up a lot and doing a fair bit of contesting / locking the ball in forward that is not even counted in publicized stats.

I get the feeling he will start holding more marks soon...many dropped are juggled or bounce out. Hes only 19 and once this clicks he will start kicking goals.

Unlike all other forwards Luke has been running all over the ground rucking which takes its toll energy and strength wise.

Its not like the blokes sitting in a forward pocket contesting only when the ball comes in  so that must have an impact.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
