if we beat richmond we'll likely go into $6 and I suspect these will be the best odds you'll get provided there isn't a massive drop in form and we lose like 8 in a row.

Careful, Mr P: After the much touted 1994 fifth win, 'twas LLLWLLLL...

(Will they say it was you or me that put the mozz?...)

Dees are equal fourth along with West Coast. A long way to go but our efforts are being recognised.

I have a tenner on them at 26 pre season and Petracca Brownlow at 29

Yeah I recall in 1994 we hit the skids in May and June and even lost to Sydney at the G who were terrible at the time.

Collingwood started 5-0 in 2000 and won just two games for the rest of the year.

At some point we will have a bit of a stumble during the season because we aren't some kind of flawless machine, we're 'just' a winning team.

But that stumble can be weathered thanks to this terrific start and will give us the stimulus we need to really address the remaining deficiencies then attacking the late season and finals with renewed vigour.

Please delete this post - Norm Smith's angry spirit can read it ?

I always expect a slump, and we have not beaten anyone yet, but at least we are playing proper grunt footy.

Let's just hope that if and when we do lose a couple in a row (or lose to a lower team), our supporters don't start panicking and bring MFCSS tensions back into the crowd.  It's a bloody tough comp and even the Tigers have lost two in a row already this year.  Hard to tell yet if we're a genuine top 4 team (this week will give us a better ideas) but we are certainly playing finals this year and are so much more resilient and mature.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
