More great news! Very happy with Salem re-signing. Keep 'em coming!

That looks like the Ess game where Salem kicked the winning goal with 19 seconds to go - his 3rd game I think.  A very special win.

Is your boy wearing Salem's # 3?  He knows how to pick a winner!

From memory it’s the 2017 victory at Marvel LH. Yeah number 3 on the jumper and by fluke he was given the number 3 at his jumper presentation tonight. The kid can’t stop smiling.

Where does he fit in?  We have a great midfield balance now

At half forward/wing in Jones' role... has a great tank, can hit the scoreboard and has better defensive accountability than we've had until this year.

Great interview. Love what he says here. Win a flag, win finals. Obvious, but I like the frame.

I said "his 1v1 game has improved, but I don't have the same confidence in him to win those that others do just yet, but hope I'll soon be on board."

I also said "having met Salem before, he seems like a really genuine guy". Just because I don't have the same confidence in him as you to win 1v1s does not mean I don't like Christian or that I don't watch him properly.

I also said "Salem is an important role player and ball user for us though."

So next time you want to interpret my posts, actually read what I'm writing or don't bother responding, because what you've written here is nonsense. Again.

As for him signing for 5 years, I'm very happy.

Just ignore him Adam. It’s just easier. How’s fatherhood going for you?

Personally I would have preferred 3-4 years but then he is super consistent coming 8th, 7th and 7th in the B & F over the past three years. You’d think, on current form, he’d be a Monty for another top 10 finish this year.

For those who say he isn’t great one-on-one check out the Cats game where the Geelong full back kicked out to Guthrie on the back flank and Salem out marked him easily. 2 minutes later and another Geelong point, full back picks out Guthrie againand Salem does him cold. The third point in a row and I’m yelling at the tele ‘kick it to Guthrie, kick it to Guthrie!

If this is directed at me, I've never said he's no good 1v1, just that I don't expect him to win it every time. Whereas, I expect Petracca or Oliver to win it every time. I think most would admit he's improved his 1v1 work this year.

This is absolutely not a shot at you at all, but I really can't remember him being beaten badly in a one on one contest against a player for similar size (ie his direct opponent). In fact most his 1v1's this year he's almost always won the dual almost effortlessly. Maybe I've got rose tinted glasses on, so feel free to point to an opponent that has had it over him this year.

I've never said he hasn't done it this year. My point was we've played 5 games, it's not like we've played a season. He does look strong 1v1 this year, particularly so against St Kilda.

The Salem winner with a minute to go was at the G. That picture is from Etihad.

You're probably right. And fatherhood is going well mate. I might appear a bit cranky on this thread, but the boy is sleeping well and his Demons have won 5 in 5. Chef's kiss. ?

The coaches think he is.

He's polled 18 votes (same as Trac) which averages out to the third best player on ground in all the games we've played, according to the coaches.

Time will tell BBP, and performances like last night go a long long way.

Would hate to Treloar ourselves though.

Doubt he’s on big coin the 5 year deal would have been less money for more certainty, when fit harmes is still in our 22 and at A minimum he will replace Jones going fwd and is still ahead of the younger mids like sparrow and Jordan for now.

Not Jordon really on current form.

Salem, Viney, Gawn, Oliver all playing well after getting new deals. Trac next please.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
