The year MFC left the MCG as its training ground was 1985 which was RDB last year as coach, I was a trainer at the time.

Disagree all you like that's great.

In the absence of something there is nothing! There is no reason that the club shouldn't talk about the preferred option

In my opinion there are plenty of reasons why it may not be appropriate to publically announce a preferred option yet. They publically announced a preferred option of Jolimont a little while ago and going public in hindsight was a bad move.

Fingers crossed we hear something soon ?

There is no reason that you know does not mean there is no reason. I have done many deals that are secret until they are done. Why announce something that may allow others to scuttle?

Understand the reluctance to announce but seems there is only one option available to meet the criteria. Yes maybe next year like always.

It's your prerogative not to do so, of course, but I'll accept what the President has said, as helpfully summarised by Neil Crompton a couple of pages back.

"- the initial phase (to analyze option sites, establish the requirements for the new development, and recommend a preferred option) has been completed

- the second phase of the development is now in full swing - ie focusing on the preferred site only, and finalizing the Concept Master Plan for this site."

And again in English without  the babble.    We are at Stage 2, selecting a site and completing plans.

Its likely to be a redeveloped Gosch's paddock with admin/training building built over the car park in between Gosch's and the Magpies base. They may decide to move the footy oval over to where the rugby ovals currently are and switch the rugby ovals to where we currently train to move the oval closer to the admin building. I have no inside knowledge at all but I would bet on this being the site (from memory @Chook in Perth mentioned this a month or two ago).

Bartlett and Pert both seem very confident so I'm not too worried about it at the moment. I think it will finally get done after 3 decades in the wilderness.

Jolimont plan was a joke. It had to be announced as part of the legislative process as it was public parkland.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
