Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Thank you.  I much appreciate that info.  It is comforting that progress is happening.

I'm still a bit concerned on Pert's comment a month ago that the government is leading the working party.  Any idea why that is happening?

Luci, I would assume that because the land is govt owned and they are providing a certain level of finance, that they would lead the  project.  It should make the project cut through govt red tape so much easier.

Our club has stated that the phase 1 feasibility study was developed based on a set of criteria that we proposed for our project. We may not get everything our hearts desire, but as Phase 1 is complete, then the list of facilities to be provided has already been agreed to and approved.

In some ways I find it comforting that the Govt is leading the development as it means they are committed to the project.

tend to agree neil.

and "leading" doesn't necessarily mean doing all the work, but does give a lot of credibility to project

puts us more in the tent than outside it, trying to get in

Sounds like LBJ. We know what that was DC.

Thanks NC.

That is very good news!  It would be great for members to hear what the facilities are pretty soon.

I felt the same logic when viewing the precinct. It's why I was surprised when I got lost in Port Melbourne , which coincided with a search for the Ron Barassi oval. That facility does exist and Port Melbourne which wears the red and blue colours is rich with the history of the game which the Melbourne Football Club represents.

we could do worse than look closely at some of the sites in that now reclaimed area. A joint entertainment community facility would not be out of place in a rejuvenated area, the government may even be persuaded to support such an initiative more generously.

Well worth a look dp. Maybe some supporters and or management dont realise just how close places like Port Melbourne are to the G.

Last time I looked it was not remotely close to the " MCG vacinity. "

Yes Kent the only time it is ten minutes was in the middle of the lock down and even then I doubt it.

That is because you have never done the 5 km drive. Even less from the Spencers St end of town where the middle of the CBD is shifting towards. Maybe google maps is to complicated, so try a melways street directory.

there's no space in port melbourne bigger than gosch's area.....assuming you could even get it

If you have a look around there's plenty of existing  green space and maybe a bit of redundant industrial space.

im sure you could get it if you really want, as the song goes , if you try try try you'll succeed at last!

Port Melbourne's oval is bordered on two sides by DHL and Aust Post parcel locker. Not the hardest places to relocate.

If only we had enough money... what a complex it could make.

No planing issues, no community backlash, a short walk to Crown for those who are so inclined and not too far to the old South Melbourne market.

depends how you define remotely. the 109 tram gets you there in 15 mins from the top of collins street.

I consider Casey Fields remote. Port Melbourne is close by.

I think Port Melbourne is as good a spot as any. The whole area is ripe for development.

Port Melbourne looked a viable option at one point under PJ, but Barlett wants us in the heart of Melbourne, near the G and he will stop at nothing to ensure this happens during his tenure.

Well then nothing will happen, if he is only looking in the heart of Melbourne he won't find anything.

I have driving all over Melbourne in my jobs for the 45 years I suggest you should make the drive. But I am not sure why we are going on with this this as the MFC have said on numerous occasions that facility has to be in the vicinity of the G. Port Melb. Is not in the vicinity of the G no matter how you look at it.

End of story.

I don’t have an objection Bda but the board and the vast majority of members want it close to the G.Nothing else will get a look in.

I would get into bed with Eddie and encourage the  investment, development and relocation of the Pies to Vic Park and we take Olympic Park where we should have been originally except for Joe and his idiots.

Simple plan,  ticks all boxes and is the lowest cost solution by far and satisfies the needs of two great teams going forward

Get it done and stop wasting time

Joe was not the president when the MFC knocked back the offer of moving into the Lexus Centre. It was Gabriel he was president at the time

Even if we got it we'd still be sharing with VIS and training on Gosch's like Collingwood did in 2010. Remember it took some shady [censored] from eddie to get VIS relocated to south melbourne and replace olympic park with an oval.

In fairness to Gabriel we were such a basket case back then that entering into something like Olympic park would've been very difficult (though not impossible with proper support from the government). That was our best opportunity to be involved in a new project right on the doorstep of the MCG though, I'm not giving him (and the club) a free pass from missing out but we had such a mountain of issues back then and number one was simply surviving.

For the benefit of the club I wouldn't be against moving away from the MCG precinct as long as it wasn't far away.

Not really this is the man who said no to 3 million dollars over 3 years, from the competitive fund, that was on offer from the AFL,  he said we don't need the extra coin because we make enough money, when he got rid of Joe, the Club had less then 1 million in debt, and our debt was over 5 million after 3 seasons with him at the top.

So many people blame Joe for a lot of things which you Gabriel actually did, how the sands of time has covered this men's tracks I don't know, maybe because Joe is a Jew, and Gabriel is not

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
