Anticipation level

I must be honest and state quite categorically that I am not pumped about the imminent start of the seaon .

Perhaps I'm a pessimist , perhaps I'm a realist , but whatever the case , the viagra's not working and I'm just not excited enough to give the opening to the season any more than a 5 out of 10 on an anticipatory level .

Where are you on the excitement level ?

mine would be hovering around the same level at this stage - but I'm sure come Friday night (about 3 or 4 schooners in) - I'll be pumped and the levels will have risen somewhat!

9/10. Absolutely pumped for the season opener.

However if we were playing Freo away my excitement levels would dip down to a 6.

Very excited about the first 4 weeks as all our games are at the MCG, albeit against finals contenders (St.K, Freo and Geel). I believe the only way we can make top 4 this year is if we're 4-0 after round 4 and 6-1 after round 7. This means we can only afford to lose to Sydney in round 5 or Dogs at Telstra Dome in round 7.....before we head off to West Coast.

We also play 1 more game at the MCG than last year...due to finally playing Collingwood twice in the one season!!! We also play Carlton twice at the MCG...surely we'll take care of them this time.

On the flip side, my excitement levels dip down a bit after I think about our pre-season performance where there was very little improvement shown and very few highlights....bar Jones, Moloney's comeback and Jeff White's 3 goal haul against Richmond.

Could go either way for the Dees and Daniher. Traditionally 2 teams come into the 8 and 2 team drop out. Could very well be us??

me about 7 to 7.5

once the season starts it will be about 9

Im really disappointed in u guys i know im at about 5000000000000/10 and everytime i think about march 30th just wanna jump into the air but if i did i would be a [censored] but then i realiese i am i [censored] and do it anyway.

10/10. I have already set aside money for Grand Final tickets and premiership memorabilia.

im at a 3 atm because im very nervous about what happens fri night but soon as the match starts there is no doubt ill be at a 100000000000000000 for sure!!!!

8 at the moment

but when i get to the g, itll be a 10 for sure

im 10 already and will be 12 on the siren

About a 9 now, it'll gradually build as I take the train down and walk into the MCG, when the ump blows his whistle I'll be at breaking point.

11/10

Well i'm still checking cricinfo a lot more often than demonland.

however excitement levels are starting to build, despite a Nicholson free season

I need a knew favorite................

ATM about 7.5/10, when i wake up friday though it will be off the charts!!!!!!!

to steal a phrase....my pants explode with delight.

i may well burst before friday PM. quickly followed by wrist slitting if we lose.

i am finding it hard to get excited. the cricket presentation night is on friday so i wont be able to get to the game, but im hoping to tape it and come home and watch it after a big night...

thanks mate, at least your pumped for me lol

Definately pumped!!

9/10.... Only 1 off a perfect score, but that is due to the fact that I no longer live in Melbourne :(

I can't wait for Friday night to get here, not only to see how we go against the Sanints, but to see how The Ox speaks about us on live TV.... Will be interesting!!

BRING IT ON!!!

now with less than 2 days to go, my anticipation level is 9.25 :D

Trying hard ot keep a lid on it, but pumped.

I'd say a 9 / 10.

Carn!

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
