Congrats to cats landing Cameron a ready made ff... When u include Lynch going to the tigers after the won a flag.. not to mention Daniher going to to the lions a prelim team...is this what free agency was designed for to allow successful clubs to raid the best talent ... grant it the lions have climbed up the ladder..  something isn’t right ...

GWS matched so Geelong has to trade for Cameron.

Adelaide haven't matched St Kilda's bid according to trade radio with Crows set to receive a second round compensation pick currently 23.

Expect to see some questionable trade in the Crows favour from the Saints.

Dunstan for pick 85.

Why would they not match it if that’s all they’re getting? They probably could’ve got more by trading him. Odd decision.

I think his drug bust completely stuffed his trade value (and his salary expectations). A second rounder is the most they could expect so Pick 23 is probably the best they could hope for in the circumstances.

You aren't going to match a bid if you don't want to keep the player at the club though.

Clearly pick 23 and Dunstan for  Crouch and say pick 85 is better than trying to do  a trade with the Saints who aren't going to cough up a first rounder for Crouch.

You take that risk and force a trade that benefits your club more.

What’s the point of the system if no one ever matches?

Not if you really want that player to go for Salary Cap room or perhaps cultural reasons.

Saints loading up for a flag tilt. Fair play to them for attracting and securing established talent. Would gladly take every player they’ve traded in over the past 12 months. Let’s see if it pays off in the next few years or if they crash and need another rebuild. They’ve definitely gone past us now.

Yep. They've done extremely well.

About to add Jack Higgins also.

The Saints position is a really good example of what you can do if you manage your salary cap well and recruit well. they've got a really clear understanding of how they want to play and they're recruiting accordingly.

I think they're really only lacking some polish off half back and they should be ready for a serious flag tilt

Brad Hill reported on $900k?

As per AFL website article the Giants are demanding a mid first round pick from the Bombers for Caldwell after being selected at pick 11 and putting two years worth of development into him. Perhaps I have a degree of shadenfreude when it comes to Essendon but this is music to my ears. Their behaviour and demands when it comes to the trade period is bordering on ludicrous and has done for years, its nice to see some pressure applied back to them.

    THE CAVALRY ARRIVES by Megg

The injury plague which has beset the Demons 2024 campaign is finally starting to dissipate and with consecutive wins over GWS Giants and a 2-point nail-biter in Adelade, a sense of optimism is rising.  Some commentators are now asking whether the Dees can make finals? A huge surprise with team selection this week when it was announced that champs Olivia Purcell, Paxy Paxman and Eden Zanker would play.   Hallelujah!  The cavalry has arrived. St Kilda missed the finals last season on pe

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.
