I can't believe there is no thread on this so Uncle Bitter will tackle the hard issues.

We, the mighty Dees were done over, a few years ago for bringing the game into disrepute. This week one of our players was done over for a sling tackle. The AFL rabbits on about player safety, equality, fairness, sexual harassment , racial vilification etc.

Now we have a big brand name - Richmond, splashed around in the media, for what could be described  ( at best) as gross year 8 schoolyard behaviour .

Is this the look the AFL wants?  I'm guessing not!

What penalties will be imposed on those who have breached the very behaviours the AFL has committed to stamp out?

Over to you Gil.

What the ! Are you suggesting an equal playing field? Romsey manion dwellers must live in another reality, dimension, consciousness, whatever. Fair play, AFL? Get real my friend. I suggest you open a bottle of great Cabernet, that'll soothe the nerves. Shiraz is yesterday.

It's has certainly been proven that that doesn't exist dieter.

So a "difficult" issue will be simply swept under the carpet in the hope that it dies down quickly.

BBO... an internal club matter surely. Apologise and move on.

After all players cannot be expected to be role models and that horrible journalist was muck raking.

Once upon a time it would have been an "internal matter" Jim. However, in these sanctimonious times, I would expect the AFl to be consistent in punishing disreputable behaviour that (especially) is spread over prime time media.

It's in hands of the AFL integrity committee.... (Need I say more)

What is it about being in Queensland? They've all turned into a bunch of no brain schoolies. That was such cringeworthy vision. Makes the NRL players look like intellectuals. Throw the (non existent) book at them I say.

Played a lot of suburban footy in my time I do not remember that sort of behaviour at any time. Grabbing genitals would have got you a punch in the head as I remember it. Now I do remember being in the showers after training and the captain coach coming up to me to talk about selection only to find he was pissing on my leg! Boys will be boys I suppose!

that gives a golden shower a whole new perspective, earl, or were you just on fire? . did you play with oakleigh districts?

Dunno where you went to school Bitter but there was no pecker fondling or finger bumming at Keysborough Tech.
Repercussion would have been swift.

a couple of years on (if not less) and the debate in this thread will appear strange.

Boys will be boys ended a long time ago.

It's a workplace !! More importantly it's a workplace that sets an example for so many others.

Frankly I'm not sure the AFL know how to deal with it. Laugh it off or treat it for what it was.

No Eastern Suburban Churches Footy League. It was a huge league in the 70’s but disappeared years ago.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • PREGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons are set to embark on a four-week road trip that takes them across the country, with two games in Adelaide and a clash on the Gold Coast, broken up by a mid-season bye. Next up is a meeting with the inconsistent Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.

It's Game Day and the Demons face a monumental task as they take on the top-of-the-table Magpies in one of the biggest games on the Dees calendar: the King's Birthday Big Freeze MND match. Can the Demons defy the odds and claim a massive scalp to keep their finals hopes alive?
