Clarkson and Dimma were both almost sacked and were hated by their supporters.

In this thread I have read Goodwin is too innovative and he is also not good enough tactian.

It just amazes me how negative some people are.

15 years on demonland and you are surprised? now i am surprised at your surprise

best to revisit this at the end of the year...   i think he will do well , but they all are doing well while no games are being played

That’s great that Richo is impressed & Im sure Goody is very innovative etc but the reality is it’s a win/loss caper and achieving the ultimate success! The MFC have for the past 5 decades talked up a lot etc but when I see other successful clubs they let their football do the talking! I cringe hearing to hell & back.. back to what??? We haven’t achieved anything! Play that stuff when u win a flag!!! I wish nothing more than Goody success eg but keep the talking in house! Shut up & do ur talking on the field!

It's been more than 15 years. Closer to 25. When we were about to merge with Hawthorn I used to email my opinion to Andy (Mr demonland) and he had to keep telling me to write on the forum.

I think the software changed about 15 years ago and didn't keep track of your history.

Innovation is important, but only when a club has the basics of the game absolutely nailed, and my read on 2019 is as much as injuries killed us, they also caused us to make the mistake of trying to go with the same gameplan without the personnel to execute it effectively rather than move back to just focusing on the fundementals of the game.

I sincerely hope this is a massive lesson for Goodwin that will make him a better coach. you can only innovate from a solid foundation of basic football fundementals. if you don't have that, you lose your game style totally and that's what happened in 2019

Rubbish.

What really counts is premierships and what is required to achieve those can be substantially different from just achieving a few wins.

I'm quite happy to write off 2019 given the circumstances, so long as we are building towards sustained success.

I'm also in the camp of sticking with Goodwin and riding it out where ever that takes us.  He's a smart, passionate football guy who has the respect of his team at the same time as demanding high standards of performance on and off the field.  I don't think it would do the team any good for us to become a revolving door of senior coaches.

Time to stick fat as MFC supporters, we have a team loaded with midfield talent that is comming into the prime of it's career.

Rubbish yourself, if you win enough games to get into the finals then win all finals you will win the premiership!
