Absolute non news story.

A few hundred corporates, sponsors and fat cats allowed to watch a game with a glass of red behind a glass window from next weekend.

I guess we'll all be able to go to the Geelong game at $1,000 a head.

Not a bad idea to sell a select number of tickets at a premium for those willing to pay.

Then in the next tier, have a select number of tickets available for a normal price. Tickets are issued based on a lottery to members of AFL clubs only.

Then a third tier with a select number of tickets given away for charity for those that cannot afford.

Surely with a ground as huge as the MCG it would be possible to get a tiny crowd in and have pre-allocated seating with distancing measures and proper practices in place for entry, visiting toilets, food and drink bars.

Would give some atmosphere and help support with a little extra $$

The exemption in NSW is justified on the "pub rule" namely the boxes are no different to a pub where you can have up to fifty people in one room provided there is 4 sq metre per person etc.

The MCG probably has at least one hundred odd "rooms and boxes"of varying sizes.

The problem is that it would not be a good look if the corporates got in but the fans did not. Then again..what's new.

That's why I suggested the three tier system with select number of tickets in each.

Speaking of tiers, would be interesting if the AFL can convinve the Vic govt. to also allow the outside seating areas to be 'roped off' so to speak into designated areas for up to 50 persons. Certainly more space than a corporate box inside...

Maybe the logistics is too difficult for controlling people moving around the stadium etc.

Your provide some good ideas except I’d change one thing:

Tier 2 is for members - first in best dressed rather than a lottery which you suggested.. Tickets go on sale on the Monday morning for members only and first in first served rather than a lottery.

This would also apply for AFL and MCC members, given how large the MCG is.
