Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tomlinson speaks well. Impressive.

if only he played well

my understanding is his spot in the 22 for round 1 was borderline and was saved by a very good preseason hit-out plus the injuries to salem and jones

if he plays like he did against meth coke again he'll be out of the side pretty quickly

If only we had all players who spoke Via their actions on the Footy field,   instead of their mouths.

I don't care if they're missing their front teeth and drooling,  as long as they are champion players.

Let's just consider for a moment (work with me here) that players might be able to both speak well AND play well, just as they might be able to both speak badly AND play badly.

Two ideas at once. Perhaps too radical for Demonland.

I'm seriously confused by this paragraph.

New to the club to play in a position we targeted him for, played well (or in your words, "very good") in the preseason, the two players you mentioned aren't challenging for the same position, yet you "understand" he was "borderline" to get a game?

Either you have misunderstood, or you are trolling.  Possibly both.

nope, got the word from a mate of his - tomlinson was told he wasn't in the 22 for round 1 prior to the last preseason match, the performance therein helped him secure his spot in the 22 despite his performance (or lack thereof) on the training track

i was similarly mighty surprised to learn this given that, as you say, he plays in a position we clearly targeted, he performed when the heat was on him

Thanks - it's tempting.

But I think the masses here have come to know Ron Burgundy as being associated with this very basic, and possibly extremely unflattering, self portrait.

I like your work though. It's clean.

Gotta respect a man who likes his meat and potatoes straight up. No worries....

So they already picked a round 1 side literally 3 weeks before the actual game?

Yeah nah..  I think your mate has stitched you up here.

Yeah nah..  I think your mate has stitched you up here.

It was probably “due to your calf injury looking at you for round 2-3”. Changed when he played in pre season and showed form and fitness

Exactly Harmes excelled with a mid field run with role in the main, and now we are trying to turn him into a defender

Nup!!

Harmes can play almost anywhere ... he was needed down back to add pace to the half-back line and either side forward or backward of that area.

He excelled in an area where we had/have no attacking-defending pace or muscle or intent, let alone direct pressure on an opposition forward (previously known as well-maintained close checking or tagging). We see the 'same old/same old' leaving us, in reality, a KPD short and often defenceless in that part of the ground; consequently, that which was lacking was provided by Harmes, for a change.

This left us an attacking mid-forward short, leaving big brother to pick up the 'loss of form' criticisms against more than one opponent (as someone was free to help spoil big brother).

Time for a new CHB - with guts and ingrained effort to burn. Let's ask Hardeman to pick us one coz he was the best we ever had.

I truly dislike the perception that this club would make a choice between draftees,  Dane Swan and Trent Cotchin,  based on an ability to present well.  I would hope speaking ability has absolutely nothing to do, with our recruiting decisions.

We ware not recruiting bloody barristers,  nor politicians.

# And Dusty Martin says high and thank-you,  to Melbourne's past recruiters.

Not sure I would have had faith in our Club turning Dusty around back then. If the same choices were available now it might be a different story.

I agree,  but not for dusty,  but for our failings at developing players,  over the bulk of our time.

We have to become More footy,  as a club.

We are almost more a business-man's club,  than a footy club.  And this is a big part of our failing.  Our attitudes.

 - - - - - - - -

We refused to talk to Dusty.   This is the type attitude,  I am referring to in our recruiting strategies.  We would go for a Scully,  who Ironically looked down on Us,  and left,  asap.

This is the type of craap I want us to lose from the club.  That Holier than thou rubbish we carry off field,  as a club.  And with some in here, on this forum

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
