Steven May will be 29 years before the start of next season. So far the Club has got 9 games out of him.

As events have transpired, not a great return on investment.

Yet. Be patient and see what happens.

May has been telling us how ready he is since he joined the club. May needs to shut up and prove it on the field. I am not sure why he gets asked anything. Just because we paid too much for him does not make his opinion worth more than any player. When footy gets back to a full season and we make the finals, I doubt May will be in the team. He was too old and over rated when we got him and he is yet to prove he has been worth the trouble and expense.

So you're saying he should say no to a club podcast? Or go on a club podcast and not give an answer about when asked what training is like?

Jesus some people are hard to please.

He should shut up and get on with it. He has proved he is a poor trainer, I would rather hear from just about anybody else at the club who has played less than ten games, how training is going. I would not be promoting May's opinion.

Can understand the cynicism.. after years of "training the house down stories" one has to wonder.

Then again these stories are for the masses and not for the aficionados that inhabit this wonderful forum. Now if they had a story about how May had been studying the left footed kicking philosophy of Euripides we could have a serious discussion.

When a good man is hurt, all who would be called good must suffer with him.

An optimist would sat that at the same time these breaks will reduce the general wear and tear on the body and extend his career :)

Solid start to the season holding Kennedy goalless with just 4 touches.

Hopefully he, Lever and O Mac (yes O Mac) can form a rock solid defence this year.

I hope O Mac does hold his own. he doesn't have to do anything special, all he has to do is stop his man. So like you I am hopeful.

Because if it works it means a fit Petty could push forward.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
