Well meaning but do we need another high maintenance Prima Donna forward?

I was going to post this story and the audio the other day but it’s really a non story. Bernie only posed the question to him because they were best mates and he wanted someone to move with him and live with him. I believe it may have even been before he even arrived at the club so it wasn’t at the behest of the club.

I seem to recall this being in the media at the time Bernie came to us.  The drift I got was that it was all a bit of a tongue in cheek comment from Bernie in him  wanting his mate to come across with him.  Not really anything serious in it...

Would've preferred Crouch or Sloane

It was one of the Crouch brothers they picked up with the pick we gave them for Bernie.  I'd still maintain we got what we needed out of the deal.

Absolutely. After his form inevitably slipped in his last couple of years, I think a lot of Dees supporters forget just how good Vince was for us. Probably our best player from 2014-2016, and one of very few players during that period that made watching MFC games a bearable experience!

He also provided good cover and a good example to follow that allowed the development of our current batch of mids  like Viney, Brayshaw, Harmes, Oliver etc not to be thrown totally to the wolves too early and importantly, he helped to build a winning culture.

Loved some of those games he played on Dangerfield where he got under his skin and took him out of the game.  Just a pitty that his body didn't hold out a bit longer such that he could have played a role in our 2018 finals campaign.

The slowest U-turn in the history of the game.

Imaging the ball falling to ground with Tex and Jordan Lewis crumbing?

Wouldn't have surprised me one bit, if the club was for it.

And we would have given him 800K a year.

Vince was worth his salt for we didn't have much going for us . Bernie gave us  spark. When he crossed the white line he was playing for his team mates and the club and gave his all. He left an impression.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
