So we give it up for an 18 year old and wait 3 years?i know the logic, you are going by.

Papley including goal assists is worth 2-3 goals a game. He is ready to go.
The MFC needs to play finals next season

Roll the dice....

Not necessarily. You don't just give up a top 10 pick for a small forward who averages a goal and a bit a game. You aim for a B+/A grader with a top 10 pick.

I would trade Pick 8 for Papley & a late pick to secure Isaac Smith.

Papley is a very good player.

And who might that be in this draft?

You are going by the book, i am going outside the square?

I'll leave that up to our recruiters.

And no, I'm going by 'don't blow our cap on a one goal a game small forward'.

So who is going to increase our Goal Kicking output next year?

Papley is a good player

I take little notice of numbers since Scully & Trengove...

We need Players for the now

Papley isn't going to significantly increase it.

Like I said, if Papley was cheaper, I'd look for a trade, but not pick 3 and not if his wage/asking price is ridiculous.

I'm glad you're not running the club mate.

You don’t rate Papley, I do, and i am not the only one who does. We missed Elliott so who is the next target?

who takes the spot of Garlett?

Pick 8 can be used wisely i hope...

If Pick 8 got Papley i would 100% do it.

Papley, Langdon and Tomlinson in via trades and using Pick 3 to get the best kid we can would = the best trade period we've had.

Pick 8 for Papley and Sydney's 3rd round pick I'd take.  Then look at the next few weeks splitting pick 3.

Agreed. We need Senior Players ready to go

Pick 3 can be left alone...

Hang on a second. I do rate Papley. I just don't rate him as a B+ or A grader. I'm not sure many would.

what about the upgrading to pick 4 to get Oliver ? numbers can be important.

Daniher deal might be off if you believe this.  Where does that leave Papley i wonder...

Joe Daniher not going anywhere, according to Tim Watson @7NewsMelbourne

Not with pick 9 i wouldn't think

Carlton could include a future pick in the Papley deal.

I'd rather Weightman at 8 than Papley.

Papley would cost too much, both in terms of pick and contract.

Desperately clutching at straws to combine goal assist stats and goals kicked to rate him. Fools gold.

I am talking this year.
who is going to kick goals for us Now?

You think SOS is gonna fight Dodoro in the parking lot because he wouldn't give up Daniher and give them the run at Papley?

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.
