Fair chance of rain Saturday. Smaller players I think would be best bet.

I hope they stay with Lockhart and a bit more of a fleet brigade..

Keilty for me needs to have a breakout game in the 2s.. we need and will have a look at him but he has to come in with form.

Look at Port Adelaide.. they are putting faith in kids and getting great service from their experienced leaders and players, we are the exact opposite.

out: Viney

in: Sparrow.

I think the idea is to give Weide a early morning  'wake-up',  call.

Dec has had a solid bit of good form,  and deserve s a game for his good efforts. It will give him some  'hope',  that he's on the right track...  and to stay enthused.

And I agree on the smalls,  starting with Lockhart.  and Sparrow.

Now is the time to put some games into kids,  before the mature players start to return from injury,  in a couple of weeks.

Sadly... You're probably right!

I really was only thinking about out talls.  not the whole team. or numbers.

Gunston hasn’t kicked a goal in 32 days. God help us!

6.0 coming up!

hopefully he is still scarred from the final against us last year, running into an open goal and hitting the post.

I cant believe a number of members on this thread believe that certain players who are out of form, shouldn't be dropped! Comments like: 'Its not going to be of any benefit' or 'its not going to improve his confidence'......what a load of [censored]!

I know our stocks are low, however, in my opinion, there has never been a better 'kick in the [censored]' for players to go back to Casey & having to prove themselves, rather than just accept that even though they are consistently playing poorly, that they are still gifted senior games.

I just can't see how Weiderman is going to 'all of a sudden grow an extra leg & be outwardly confident overnight. you know what.....its actually ok to be dropped & go back to prove yourselves.....plenty of others aren't gifted the opportunities that Sam & other players have had this season.

Anyway, enough by me, sorry!

Sometimes its just a matter of breaking the negative momentum,  that's built up so far this season.  Going back to Casey can do that for him.

And similarly, the other way for Dec...  Who last year,  I was concerned about whether he'd go anywhere...  but now, think he might be OK.

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
