Umps not giving us much

That's an understatement.  17 frees to 10 their way.

The only thing I don't like so far is our pressure in the forward line when he ball hits the deck.  They have run it out far too easily this term.  We need to be better with this.

[censored] I love Jetta! Awesome mark!

I wish every player on this team had the same attitude & effort as Neville Jetta.

Went through like a freight train!

As for Smith, got injured through his own stupidity. Decides to play and after marking and have his kick smothered when he should've gone back and given himself more distance over the mark.

Lewis has been good today.

Said Fritsch off injured and said nothing else since. Useless commentators

I don’t know if you guys follow the NBA, but as Boston fan, Jetta reminds me so much of Marcus Smart.

Again TMac and Weid spoil each other.

That's what happens when you just bomb it in long. A bit more clarity from those delivering the ball would make it easier for our forwards.

An easy chest mark dropped by Spargo and puts us immediately under pressure the other way.

This has been a great contest. But both sides need to put it away for the past quarter. Players are dropping like flies. It's a practice match ffs!

We can't stop them running out of defence.

To me, that's the only thing that I've been disappointed with.  I can handle the skills, fitness etc. at this time of the year.  But our pressure when the ball his the deck hasn't been great, and for the game style we have it needs to be better.  We bomb it in and if it isn't marked then we keep it in there and set up the wall.  Hasn't happened nearly enough today, although you would expect it to improve when the real stuff begins.

Fritsch with a hip. Don’t think he will play again today.

Our defence is all at sea. Can’t say I’m full of confidence at the moment. It is just a practice match I know, but between our horrible form and the injuries, I prefer it be over already.

Have to agree Wise. If that is indeed our gameplan, then keeping the ball in once it hits the deck has to be our biggest contingency plan should we not mark it.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
