Watching the weekly video's - thanks @Demonland - made me think about a top 10 countdown for the play of the year.

I thought perhaps, forum posters may want to post some of their own ideas- we could then 'second, third' etc the play and then get a montage happening.

Now, I've got a poor memory but here are some of the one's that stand out for me off the top of my head in no particular order.

  • Viney's gather and spin in the EF and kick to the top of the goal square to Brayshaw
  • Fritsch's first mark and goal in the first round
  • 5 minutes of tap out domination from Gawn and the onball brigade perhaps against Brisbane
  • Can I still talk about Clarry's goal against Adelaide last year?? ?
  •

**edit -

I'll compile the options by close of business Friday 14th.

Votes can be submitted on that thread from that list until close of business Wednesday 19th... and ill do my best to source all videos.

If you happen to have the video of said highlight - please submit it - or give a time stamp on the video...it'll make my job easier TIA.

***don't just post a video -  you'll have to write down your choice(s) otherwise I'll lose track

five more to consider:

  • hannan's run down the wing and goal
  • weideman's first quarter in finals football
  • nev's one-hander against clangerfilled in the final
  • jones' sealer goal
  • melksham's rove, left foot from 50

Nev’s mark against Liam Ryan in the H&A game against WCE.

Kentys goal that got us into the finals same game

The whole game against Adelaide in the Alice

The first two weeks of September were magical. The third not so much (slightly made better by Collingwood having won then lost the Grand Final).

Where can one view the weekly videos?

A few plays that stick out:

• Jetta’s tackle/bump in the EF putting Selwood on his backside and making spit come out of his mouth

• Oliver’s mid-air clean gather and give in the EF and putting Selwood on his backside again in the process

• Kent’s sealer over in the West, still a special moment

Melkshams 55m bullet pass to Gus in the game v doggies, Gus to Hogan - goal. Magical. But Melkshams pass was just breathtaking.

My personal number one ?

The Jones sealer.

Perfect vision, decision and handpass from a pack by Tracca to an open Jones. Perfect kick for goal as he used to do.

The celebration by Jones was the release of 12 years of frustration and misery not only for him but for all of us.

2020

Go dees.

Apologies if nominated already. but I nominate two Sam Weideman plays -

His third goal in the Elimination Final vs Geelong, and his massive tackle on Dangerflog in the same game.

Been three months and it still hasnt sunk in for me that we won two finals and eliminated two teams that have owned us for decades.   Could not have picked two better teams to kick out of the finals.

It had all the hallmarks of a fairytale ending. Pity we didn't wake up for the ball in Perth.

This is great, keep the clips coming.

What about ANB’s sealer against the Crows in Adelaide? Most would have been able to breathe again after thinking it was almost the Geelong game all over again.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
