No disrespect to your comments he is no  so called Poosy Cat and he certainly can play. However he  will mature into a fine player  as he has time on his side there is no doubt.  Sometimes it is good to learn on someone. He is still a kid.

Yes, it is time he (pet racca) felt a little pressure,  from inside this club...  the sort we applied to Maxy a few years back now..  didn't do him any harm, and he has certainly become more motivated since talk of trading him out.

Didn't help watts.

Didn't help Hogan much.

Did help TMc.

Has helped Frost.

Hasn't helped Garlett as yet.

So after all these,  poosy catto must get a wriggle on.  In AFL terms, hes a Poosy Cat, or if you prefer, a baby amongst men.

If you recall, way back. 'Alan Jeans' described a young Dermott Brereton as,  "he's just a baby".

Sorry 'DV8', but Max can take credit for this himself...

The club didn't need to apply pressure, it was Max who said he was after Goldies spot as the AA ruckman.

He set his goals & achieved them, well done Max.

Prior to that, i'm talking about RJ.   Prior.   When max was content to waste away in the 2nds.

His newfound motivation is what brought comments, like the one you quoted.

Not until talk of trading him out...  did he fire up.

Petracca has had 3 years now. 63 games. 57 goals. Ready for a 30+ goal year.  He is one who will improve and take us to the next level. At 22, Trac is ready to ignite. He just needs to believe it.

Petracca does nearly everything quite well. He is though, exceptional at winning a contested ground ball and using his power to get to his feet without being stripped of the ball. Even when multi-tackled. He can then get rid of it without being penalised. It may sound commonplace or not very fancy but he does it often and incredibly well. I bet Goody loves this more than anything.

Track teases us a bit. Hidden in there is a game controlling monster. When isolated he is rarely beaten in contested ball. We just wait for the day he totally gets his tail up, plays for 100 mins and adds being a defensive beast forward, if that makes sense.

Thats very strange.  Could have had a fantastic season if he had kicked semi accurately.

More goal assists 2018 than goals .... all go on the Dees scoreboard.

Someone linked his 2017 goal clips; does anyone have 2018?   I would be interested in comparing “degree of difficulty” between the years.  Did he / was he asked to take on more difficult shots on the back of his great 2017 percentages?

Curious thing about Petracca, agains the flow of the usual 'young kid' story, is his consistency. 16 games this season fell in the 19-24 disposals range.

Also worth noting that, just by a glance at the numbers, he got significantly fewer touches in losses than in wins.

Now the haters and the fluffers can have a whole new round of debating whether that is because of poor attitude or a consequence of the role he plays. ;)

Track is coming back from a knee op which affected him last season and is in the rehab group. This talk of him needing to pick up his game somewhat is premature. He won't be able to elevate this fitness levels until next season.

Lets hope he gets his knee and body right to play round 1 and can build up his season accordingly.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
