Interesting, there are some names there like Membrey and Roberton who would've been traded but the deals didn't really work so the clubs let them walk as delisted players. Same for some of the veterans for which delisted is a little harsh.

Good teams in the Hawks and Swans have found value with Simpkin, Laidler and Henderson.

We just have to find the right guy if there's one out there for us.

Someone could have collected Neville Jetta as a delisted free agent prior to us Rookie Listing him... that’s a scary thought.

I don't agree. What if you have 4 really good ruckmen or the 6th best inside midfielder they could be surplus in one side or top five in another side with deficiencies in that area.

They'd be traded, not thrown on the scrap heap for others to pick over.

Membrey was only a delisted free agent because he was out of contact and a prospective deal from St Kilda, who had pick 1 in the preseason draft and didn't do a trade deal with Sydney. That's why we had to trade for Friday, as St Kilda threatened to use that pick for him.

Roberton requested a trade back to Victoria, which didn't work out so Freo delisted him before St Kilda signed him.

Looking at the list and age brackets, Sheridan fits in nicely.  With new 4-5 draftees, we will potentially need to grab 1-2 delisted free agents for depth and cover the position 24-25 that Tyson covered.

Yuk, lets just let Taylor work his magic in the draft please. We already gave that dud JKH a contract how many more can we carry.

don't mind me..

Swans looking at Sheridan and Townsend.

I'm not convinced we go all in with a better contract and so on but I do think both are worth considering for the last couple of main list spots that we won't fill with valuable draft picks.

The swans know the value of mature bodies, experience and role players.

You mean Cam Sutcliffe..

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
