Yep, true, got my Kys mixed up with my Shepps. I lived between Barooga and Berrigan in 1981 till 1983, worked for a winery in Echuca financed by a Ky doctor.

Tom Campbell as stated has signed with North and had first training run today...a missed opportunity in my opinion .He has belted Pruess before hand and Scott believes he can play senior footie next season.

The Dogs have gone with fill-in rucks the last few seasons with some cameo's from English who looks a good kid.

If Campbell was so good he would have locked that spot up as his own. He rarely got a look in.

I will admit he's looked good to me at times but for some reason Beveridge doesn't think he's up to it.

I might defer to his better judgement, I might also defer to Taylor and our recruitment team.

I take what Scott says with a grain of salt...

No several others have joined me.....sooner have a ruckman more proven than Pruess on my books.Campbell has killed him in games previously. We will wait and see “What hapopens:” in 2019.but note, all I am crowing about is ....sooner have 3 possible ruckman than 2 .Could have picked up Campbell as a SSP rookie,Campbell is far more proven than Pruess.Campbell had 72 hit outs followed by 60 in the next game ,was an emergency on 3 occasions yet did not get on with Beveridge ,similar to Roughead, Dahlhaus etc..I have trained with the Bulldogs at  Victoria College for years .Campbell was interviewed and tested by Essendon, Adelaide and North and had enquiries ,I believe from Suns, Brisbane and Swans.....therefore genuine interest for many.As stated, I believe he was a classic case for us to bring on Pruess as well as a backstop for Gawn. Also, he played many games last year at Full forward .Therefore, a ruckman/ forward type..Anyhow, we will see whom WINS out, and if indeed I was the only one picking Campbell was, so be it..Drysdale demon...lovely little place Drysdale By the way DD have a look at the Herald sun and AFL .com to see the reports they have had in the last week on him... y the way, he could have gone to Brisbane last year.but stayed and honoured his contract.

Obviously and rightly so, the footy dept. disagree.

Do not discount Preuss - it takes time for rucking to develop, just like it did with Gawny although he was a little quicker than most. There are fairly obvious reasons why Preuss is vital to us; mongrel swing forward with ruck attributes to relieve and eventually carry on the Gawn legacy, and mongrel-like mobility, growing experience plus a penetrating kick and very OK in front of goals from 50m - all packaged in one essential athlete.

Round 12 this year. Dogs v Roos VFL

Hitouts;
Preuss - 36
Roughead - 25
Campbell - 15
Xerri (NM) - 9

Disposals
Preuss - 15
Roughead - 24
Campbell - 14
Xerri - 10

Looks to me like Preuss was probably the best tap ruckman of the group, but Roughead the best around the ground. 1 goal for Campbell forward. In terms of instant back up Roughead was probably the best of that lot, the Pies moved to get him.

Preuss is 23, Campbell is 27. That's really what a lot of it comes down to. Preuss is yet to enter his prime. Campbell might lose athleticism quickly, some big guys do and then they start to struggle.

Yes, I see the point about having 3 rucks, but unless we are planning to play 2 at AFL level - and I don't think we are - then we've got a 3rd guy sitting in the VFL getting in the way of development and team structure. Austin Bradtke can do 5-10 minutes a quarter in the ruck and 5 minutes forward and develop at Casey, whilst the forward line stays open for Tim Smith and (at this stage) Keilty to get some space as tall forwards.

With the new pre season and mid season rookie spots we can add a 3rd ruck if needed during the year. They might not be as good as Tom Campbell but we'll have all the state leagues to pick from if need be.

Fair points you make, however, it was my understanding English played in that match and Tom played basically full forward which is not his rightful position. As Roughhead was interviewed by the Dees , I am told, Campbell would have been either a good backup to Max, a great development for Pruess whilst at least 9ne of these most probably playing at Casey developing Bratke.

This did not happen so, we will await the season to see how these players have gone.

Hang on.. you said Campbell beat Pruess outright in the ruck, and yet you were proven wrong..

You should stop while you are ahead.

Please note that is over the last 3 years not one game and Campbell was voted 2nd best for Bulldogs in that DeeSpenser report.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
