He’ll go to Mitchell. I think Neal-Bullen will go to Isaac Smith

He did a great job on a similar player in Lachie Whitfield

Someone has to take Smith...

Harmes has the weapons to do it, not sure who else.

...or stop his supply?

Smith just put a target on himself when interviewed and asked about the Demons pressure..

”I reckon we’re alright at pressure ourselves, maybe you should be asking Melbourne that.”

That is licence to shitmix him.

Nothing like a back-handed compliment!  LOL

That sounds more like Rod Grinter style, Bazz

vandenBerg on Smith for me.  He has far better pace than given credit for round these parts, he has a great tank, he's the same height, and he can absolutely physically work him over.

vandenberg confirmed this morning on SEN that Goody had him playing wing due to his tank and let's face it Smith will only get to use his elite speed on a handful of times and not at all if he's constantly under pressure.

I may be wrong, but I could see a vandenBerg matchup.

Forgot about Vanders & if Smith has been making a d...target of himself then Vanders is just the man to accommodate him...

We shut Mitchell down in Round 4 and lost by 11 goals.

Mitchell gets a tonne of it but the damage O'Meara, Gunston, Smith, Breust and even Shiels can do is far worse IMO.

Vanders has an excellent sense of timing for his body pressure, have been pleasantly surprised how few frees he gives away, (I love Bernie, but he has been a tad slow and more likely to give a free away in the same type of play). I think Smith would merde himself a bit, AVB for the job.

I could also see Vandenberg doing a job on Sicily. Will be interesting to see how they line up.

This. ANB is the only one with the tank to follow Smith.

Surely by this stage, the question needs to be asked the other way around.

Who will Hawthorn try to stop?

Viney? Oliver? Brayshaw?

Seriously who do you tag if you're the Hawks?

Looking at form over the last few weeks, they should be looking to curtail OUR stars, not the other way around.

I am quite bullish about this game. The way we've gone about it the last few weeks has been tough and brutal.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
