Our is issue is our defense from the midfield. Defenders will never be able to stop a ball coming in at a million miles an hour with no pressure on, no matter who they are. Our midfield still has lapses where it does not transition to defend and pressure the ball carrier through the middle. Until this is fixed we will never contend, despite being an offensive juggernaught.

Lose this game and I just cannot see us playing finals. Win and it will still be hard. We need 3 wins out of 5. Possibly 4 out of 5.

This just HAS to be one of them. It won't be easy, and it depends upon how well we are able to defend as a team. We know we can score. But can we stop a score in hostile territory with everything at stake?

I have my doubts.

Gold Coast, Sydney and a GWS team that will be resting because they can't move from 4th. What's the big deal with finding 3 wins?

That amounts to nil have you seen many lose from that position? We have lost the sense of how to win. Mentally we are a wreck, the soft gentlemen who shake in their boots when the final siren gets close.

So the answer is No? And No, i haven't seen many lose from that position because they weren't good enough to get into it there. Only Sydney in 2016 were good enough to thump the Cats at home. Of course we have our faults and have shown mental weakness in finishing off that game, but if you think 3/5 games will be harder to win than Kardinia Park then you're deluded.

Edit: And I fully expect us to have a red hot crack against Adelaide and WCE and potentially win one.

I'm sure there were plenty of miserable old farts for the Dogs and Tigers who had "seen it all" and were asking "when will we change?" until the end of the regular season before it all clicked. Maybe even after the Tigers took a pounding at Kardinia last year too ?

Potentially and red hot crack does not get the points only being in front at the end gets the points and we have shown all year we cannot cut it when  we play reasonable teams. We are good at beating up on poor teams and that is about it.

But the good teams never travel there (unless a interstate team and even then it’s sometimes been at etihad) . So it’s a flawed theory.

I was in fact not meaning down at Geelong but how many times do teams 29 points up in the last get done.

Anyway we should not be too glum we have been here many times in the last half a century.

My meaning was we don’t know how many times the cats would come back from that sort of lead. Did it to hawks a few times in years gone by at the G.

Rams look good this year. Went nuts on the recruiting front. Hoping for a big year!
