Three servings of Meatloaf?

No thanks.

Oh of course. That's all the reason I need to vote no.

3 Pre match "extravaganzas" AFL style.

I'm going to propose a whole new concept in keeping with the modern times of flair and excitment.

A series of four high-intensity short games (approximately 30 minutes) played over a saturday afternoon, where the final winner is decided based on aggregate scoring across all four games.

But I'm just being silly, the AFL would never go for it... unless... you could arrange for separate ticketing for each of the four 'games'.

Most ridiculous thing I heard yesterday. 3 adults discussing it and the issue being you have to have at least one game at the MCG.

Sheehan comes up with game 3 will always be at the G after the 2 teams play home and away.

The 3 discuss that being a compromise that would appease the fans.

FFS I presume they have all been educated but between the 3 of them nobody thought about a team winning the first 2 games

@faultydet Maybe they could work Angry in the Batmobile in for game two? ;)

This question is easily answered.

The sport that is equivalent (it's actually greater) in physicality to the AFL in the US, the NFL, has a championship game. The reason being that a series would wear the players out. Ratings wise it's better too as a blowout in game one could cause a ratings drop off for game two.

The NRL does have a series for state of origin. However, it is held mid season before everyone is too knackered to move and the travel time between Sydney and Brisbane is minimal compared to say a road trip from Gold Coast to Perth (if that eventuality came to pass).

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Watch for teams in game 1 having built up a lead by 3)4 time then coasting - and dragging off stars in the last quarter, whilst punters make their dash for the car park or Richmond station at the 20 minute mark, quite unedifying. What would the ticket price be for three games and what kind of stupidity/sleight of hand fashioned this marketing ploy anyway.

PS iust admit I didn't sit through the entire '88 playoff.

Surely not! When was it that the AFL officially decided that there would no longer be a Grand Final replay if there was a draw? And now someone is proposing a best of 3? No, just no.
