FROSTY FINISH

The dashing backman added a great deal of energy and zest to the Demons defence throughout most of the season but his form tapered off a little toward the end when he found himself in the VFL. There were many who thought the Demons could have used his athleticism in the vital games he missed when a couple of goals could have made all of the difference to their finals campaign. Has resigned on for two more years.

Disappointing season overall for a player who has been around a while now. I reckon he is another one who is being overloaded with instructions, rather than given one or two things to focus on.

Goodwin needs to decide whether he wants Frost to be a lockdown defender or a more attacking player. I don't think he can do both, particularly not in the zone defence we are currently using.

he had a glorious patch but as the season dragged on and the pressure came to bear he completely went to water - he was okay at the last game for casey before the round 23 game, and potentially should've been brought back to face the pies

do i still see him as starting defender in 2018, without / with lever coming on board? 100%

he definitely strikes as the sort of player who just needs to 'do his job' and focus on his objectives - stopping his man getting a free run at the ball in the marking contest, pushing the key forward beyond 50 to receive 'loose' possessions whilst maintaining the pressure upon him, and for god's sake, sort yr short kicking out!

honestly, if you can't pinpoint a pass over 15-35m - with or without having had a couple of bounces of the ball - then you're either not going to make it as an afl player longterm or you need to focus on 'kicking for touch' - and that doesn't mean blazing away, but instead making the strategic decision WHERE to kick it

hunt sorted his short kicking out as the season went on and i'm sure frost can too

turning 25 at the end of next season, he should be entering his prime as a footballer

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
