He isn't a key forward

2023:

39 goals for the season, averaging 1.5 marks inside 50, both behind only King at the Suns (and ahead of any Demon)

Took more contested marks than any of our forwards did, whether you split it by average or total.

Led the suns for goal assists and was behind only Noah Anderson for inside 50s.

I suspect he is in fact a key forward. Possibly even a textbook modern CHF.

When the coach permits it!

We are so blessed with quality key forwards, why would we want him?

That was sarcasm.

Not the same player but I reckon you play him similar to Jeremy Cameron, let him get involved all around the ground using his peg to deliver 50m darts.

Amazing some on here see are saying he's 'soft' and 'Jack Watts' mk 2 purely because they've seen the way he's built and style or play. You can tell not many have actually taken the time to watch him play.

He kicked 39 goals last year just in the home and away season. Put that form into our side and he would have top our leading goal kicking.

We'd be absolutely silly not to be asking the question at least.

Would jump at him in a heartbeat. Would be fantastic as a roaming CHF similar to Jeremy Cameron.

I really hope we go hard in trade and free agency this year to bring in some ready made players. After bringing in Windsor, Kolt and Brown last year and Jeffo, Adams & Verrall last year we've got a decent amount of kids for a side contending. Throw in Rivers, Pickett, Bowey, JVR, McVee, Howes, Woey, Turner & Sestan that is a heap of youth. I realise we don't have a real top line mid in that group other than Windsor, I think the time is now to really go hard. Can't waste our time with Trac, Viney and Oliver....

Would love to get Locomotive Delicious…

Good player.

Agree

All for it at the right price. Plays taller than his size, probably takes more marks in 50 than anyone on our list.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
